For more information, please visit www.ashoka.org Job Description Ashoka is piloting an expansion of our volunteer program that will provide our staff (and eventfully our Fellows) with specific professional consults and project based participation in ten of the most highly requested areas of need, communications being one. We are calling volunteer participants on these ten teams Ashoka Professional Support Partners. We are looking for experienced communications specialists to join this elite communications team of 10-12 similarly skilled comms professionals from different regions of the world to help Ashoka staff with strategy, messaging, campaign design, templates, and more. As an Ashoka Support Partner your expertise will be promoted to staff over the course of two months and if there is a need that meets your availability, they will request an introduction. Until that time your name and contact details will be held confidentially. The goal of this pilot is to remove many of the barriers that prevent a very busy staff and our mission driven Fellows from recruiting the volunteer support that they need. As Steve Jobs once said upon introducing the iMac, "People don't know what they want until you show it to them." Volunteer Logistics Estimated hours required per week: Flexible and Variable depending on project The estimated duration of the project is: 1-3 months This position is Virtual (Remote) Language Requirements English Required Desired Skills And Experience • At least three years of experience in Communications, Marketing, Digital Media, Content development, and related work. • One business and one personal reference Familiarity / Experience With • Core content and design tools such as Office suite: Advanced use of Google Workspace or Microsoft 365 (Docs/Word, Sheets/Excel, Slides/PowerPoint) for briefs, reports, and decks. • Design tools for collaborating with designers. • Presentation and survey tools for audience and employee feedback. • CRM marketing platforms for campaigns, segmentation, and automation. • Marketing automation/CRM and Salesforce knowledge to manage contacts, track touch points, and connect campaigns to outcomes. • Internal comms platforms for segmented internal newsletters and announcements. • Social, web, and PR Social media management experience for content, scheduling, monitoring, and reporting across platforms. • CMS to update site content, landing pages, and basic blog publishing. • PR and media tools for media lists, monitoring, and press distribution • Analytics and data tools, web and campaign analytics to read performance and build dashboards. • Comfortable with data handling and spreadsheets for tracking and doing light analysis. • Collaboration, project management, and AI collaboration and project tools for managing campaigns and content calendars. • Knowledge hubs to maintain playbooks, FAQs, and messaging libraries. • AI‑assisted tools for using AI in copy, design, and analytics

This Project: Sport for Changemaking Communications Campaign Development and Delivery Responsibilities Ashoka’s Sport for Changemaking team is looking for a self-driven, collaborative, highly professional individual to deepen our communications and storytelling capabilities. As our volunteer, you will be responsible for the development of external–facing communications campaigns and the creation of communications deliverables – tapping into existing research within our team and the broader Ashoka ecosystem. Ashoka believes in empowering its volunteers to take on their own initiatives while supporting ongoing projects. As a volunteer, you will contribute to: • Based on the research and understanding of creating positive impact, creating a communications campaign and materials that convey Ashoka’s position and engagement in the sport for social change field • Using written and visual communications materials, advancing the Ashoka Sport for Changemaking movement in the broader sport for ecosystem Key elements of the volunteer role may include: • Writing and designing social media content, website copy and a monthly newsletter • Translating research findings and interviews into exciting and thought-provoking communications materials • Co-develop thought-leadership and other content pieces with the Ashoka Sport for Changemaking team and outline a dissemination strategy • Working closely with Ashoka teams to ensure the knowledge and learnings are presented in a way that can attract new partnerships and collaborations on areas of strategic need.
