The Amazon fulfillment network consists of many different site types to meet the customer expectations. Small delivery stations bring packages to customers homes daily while large complex fulfillment centers utilize various technologies to store, package, and ship customer orders. The RME ELM team is responsible to ensure all site types and local RME teams are setup to successfully maintain buildings during operations. We are looking for a Sr. ELM Launch Program Manager with a strong delivery record and proven ability to own and execute multiple projects simultaneously. Key job responsibilities This role requires working across multiple Amazon business organizations, in addition to vendors and third party contractors. The Sr. ELM Launch Program Manager will be responsible for influencing and driving critical path tasks with partners to maintain launch timelines. You will be on-site representing RME ELM, coordinating training, and onsite launch execution during the launch, reporting back to internal and Customer stakeholders through established reporting structures. This position involves regular communication with customer and RME leadership teams on status, risks, and change control. The ideal candidate is customer-focused, a natural problem solver, and a great communicator, both in verbal and written form. You have a consistent track record of successful project delivery under tight deadlines in an ambiguous environment. This role requires a high level of ownership over the launch process. Since this is a launch role, a minimum of 50% travel is required to effectively provide oversite for projects. The Rapid and Rural Logistics team is looking for a proven technical leader with extensive experience planning and managing the execution of large scale construction programs. As the R2L (Remote to Local) Construction Manager (CM), you will work with broad set of stakeholders including Real Estate, Operations, Design, Launch, Startup, Delivery Experience, Legal and Retail to take the fulfillment center design from concept through the hand off to Operations. This position requires a firm understanding of engineering, planning, program management, contract administration and operations. Travel required 60% This position may be based out of any Amazon facility within Washington, Oregon, California, Nevada or Arizona. Key job responsibilities • Lead the Request for Proposals (RFP) process and vetting qualified contractor proposals, assemble bid submissions and foster the selection of the design build contractors • Coordinate with the designers, building teams, cost estimators to establish proper project budget, scope and schedule. • Assist in obtaining the information and decisions needed from Amazon which are required to complete the construction drawings. • Manage approvals and permissions needed from the building Landlords • Act as a facilitator of information required for by internal Amazon functional teams (IT, Safety, Loss Prevention, Food Safety, Operations) • Perform duties as the primary Amazon representative on permitting required with authorities having jurisdiction • The Construction Manager will monitor and assist with all utility integrations such as phone service, electrical power, water, sewer • Schedule: The Construction Manager will be the principle schedule auditor on behalf of Amazon, monitor site production, determine target milestones, track and communicate progress • Develop capital appropriation requests and manage fiduciary responsibility for approved budgets • Perform site visits on a periodic basis to confirm schedule progress, attend contractor meetings and act as the single point of contact for Amazon for the general contractor partners • Review the contractor’s buyout, subcontracting, material purchase schedule and long lead orders. • Coordinate with the Amazon launch/startup teams regarding schedule and phased area turnover to insure coordination with all stakeholder functions • Audit the contractors punch list completion progress and manage on behalf of Amazon • The Construction Manager will direct the contractor through the document turnover and close out process • Coordinate with Amazon property management to transition the building facilities to their care • Lead continuous improvement and lessons learned efforts to improve standards, reduce costs and expedite timelines for construction programs BASIC QUALIFICATIONS • A completed Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Engineering, Construction Management or comparable field. • 3+ years of Architect, Engineer, Construction Manager, Development Manager, Owner’s project management representative or other Commercial Development and Construction related experience • Project management experience from design phase through implementation and operation, negotiating construction, procurement and labor contracts. • Experience within packaging processing/logistical facilities with complex equipment or comparable experience. • 3+ years of project/program management PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS • An advanced degree, certification or Master’s degree in Architecture, Engineering, Construction Management or Masters of Business. • Experience operating within at least two disciplines in the construction industry, which could consist of General Contracting, Owner’s Representation, Commercial Development, Engineering & Design, owners project management representative or similar • Experience in design review process to incorporate electrical, mechanical, automation controls solutions to drive equipment reliability and standards • Experience in automated conveyors systems and controls, electrical and electronic principles, blueprint and electrical schematic reading, CMMS programs, preventive maintenance procedures, industrial electrical, industrial controls and industrial electronics Amazon is an equal opportunity employer and does not discriminate on the basis of protected veteran status, disability, or other legally protected status.
