It defines what needs to happen, what it will take, when, and the benefit it will deliver, and then leads delivery. This is a do-and-lead role. The successful candidate performs hands-on solution work where needed and leads delivery through others where capability exists, scaling their own involvement to where the gaps are. They coordinate resources from across the business to support initiatives, in the manner of a delivery lead, without line-management authority. Delivery comes first; strategy and transformation set its direction. The role works within corporate technology direction and standards, while making the case for new technology, including emerging capabilities like AI, where there is a strong reason to. It covers the full lifecycle, improving long-running programs as well as standing up new work. While it sits within the environment business, day-to-day direction comes from the regional Digital Director of Operations, who provides functional guidance and sets digital strategy and operational direction across all business lines. Key Responsibilities Digital Strategy and Opportunity • Look across the remediation business to identify where maturing the use of digital technology will create value, through new systems, enhancement of existing ones, or improved business process. • Define what needs to be done, the resources required, the timing, and the expected benefit, and present clear recommendations to leadership for decision. • Set and evolve the digital roadmap, prioritizing initiatives by value, urgency, complexity, and available capacity. • Align with corporate technology direction and standards, making the case for new technology, including AI, where there is a strong business reason to adopt it. • Maintain a working view of market trends and digital practice to inform priorities for the remediation sector. Delivery Leadership and Execution • Lead delivery of digital initiatives across both new and existing engagements, optimizing long running programs as well as standing up new work. • Perform hands-on solution work directly where needed, including configuration and build on Smartsheet and the Microsoft platform. • Oversee delivery to ensure initiatives meet scope, timing, quality, and the expected benefit, within corporate technology standards. • Lead the selection of the right technology for each need, matching tools and platforms to the job within corporate standards and the agreed direction. Resourcing and Coordination • Assess where the business has capability to take on delivery work and where the gaps are, and recommend how to resource each initiative, whether in-house, from across the matrix, or through external support. • Coordinate and provide delivery direction to resources drawn from across the business to support initiatives. Solution Quality and Translation • Act as the translation layer between the business and technical resources, converting business needs into clear technical direction and explaining technical constraints and options back to the business in plain terms. • Where work is handed off, interpret requirements and provide oversight so the delivered solution meets the business need. • Implement and oversee QA/QC processes, and review solution designs for scalability, usability, and alignment with the agreed direction. • Develop and deploy SOPs, templates, and playbooks, in line with regional standards, for repeatable delivery. Value, Alignment, and Reporting • Articulate the value proposition for digital initiatives, then track and demonstrate the outcomes and benefits realized over time, showing how the business is maturing. • Work in close partnership with the regional Digital Director of Operations, taking day-to-day direction while bringing remediation's digital priorities and progress forward. • Build and maintain stakeholder alignment across leadership, project teams, technical resources, and end users, influencing without direct authority. • Own leadership reporting and decision-making escalation, communicating progress, risks, and value delivered.
