Support schools with compliance, professional development, and program implementation for special education. | Minimum 3 years supporting special education services in an online model, proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google Suite, strong communication, and confidentiality skills. | Job Description: • In collaboration with the Head of Schools, the Principals, and Special Education Leaders, the Special Education Manager supports the schools with compliance monitoring (document quality, timelines, data collection), provision of professional development and training, and special education programming. • Supports the creation of appropriate programming for transfer students by collaborating with the enrollment team and prior school to obtain documents and understand student needs. • Assists in implementation of Extended School Year program and gathering student data required for state reporting. • Makes and implements student centered decisions in accordance with all state laws and regulations. • Attend relevant trainings offered by county agencies and the department of education to stay current on regulations and best practices for each state assigned. • Develop and facilitate professional development and training on varied Special Education topics. • Coordinate with enrollment team to understand volume and needs of newly enrolling Special Education students and gather existing documentation. • Review Special Education documents, including IEPs, for compliance and quality and provide feedback and coaching to special education leaders and/or teachers. • Assist special education leaders and/or teachers with complex parent communications as needed. • Monitor each school’s compliance with timelines and data collection. • Participate in in the Alternate Assessment decision making process to ensure a student is most appropriately assessed with an alternate assessment. • Coordinate and support with alternative curriculum programming and state assessment planning. • Serve as a point of contact and manage supplemental program access. • Partners Special Education leaders and Head of Schools to ensure communication and consistency in general education and special education programming. • Collaborate with schools and the National State Reporting Team to gather/enter all needed data into state and federal systems. • Participate in trainings and meetings. • Perform all other job duties as assigned. At MOS, we empower students to be their best by enabling them to learn in ways that are right for them – using innovative technology at home, at their proper level, and at their own pace. The Student Success Coach at Michigan Online School manages the delivery and implementation of onboarding, core interventions, and support services for assigned students in accordance with Student Services initiatives and guidelines. Serves as the primary contact for new students and families, communicating frequently and addressing questions or concerns to ensure a strong start to school. This role also provides oversight of educational interventions and supports to targeted student populations to assist with increased engagement, student learning outcomes, and successful completion of school (or grade level standards). Please note – while this is an online school position and all instruction occurs virtually, travel and face to face attendance will be required several times per year to support in person state testing and student events.
