SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES: The director of channel and social media marketing is a visionary leader and hands-on expert responsible for defining and executing a comprehensive channel marketing strategy aligned with organizational goals. This role leads the planning, execution and optimization of paid media, social media (organic and paid), emerging channels, sponsored products and CRM initiatives. The ideal candidate thrives at the intersection of creativity and data, with a proven track record of building engaged communities and driving measurable business outcomes. Key responsibilities include: Strategy: Define the overall channel marketing strategy to align with company goals and objectives across audiences; drive multi-channel approach, customer-journey mapping, and testing strategies, explore and test new strategies by leveraging new channels and new media types. Leadership: Build, mentor and lead a high-performing team of channel and media strategists; set clear goals and KPI’s for team members; instill a culture of accountability and excellence in team members; foster an AI/data-driving and performance-oriented team culture. Planning: Lead the team in planning, execution and optimization of owned channels and paid media campaigns across channels; lead campaign development, including targeting and channel strategy, messaging, and performance optimization; coach team and demonstrate excellence in translating strategic goals into digital campaigns with measurable metrics and outcomes. Collaboration: Partner with other senior leaders and cross-functional teams, including Insights, Creative Services, Brand Strategy, Product Marketing, Content Strategy Analytics and Web Strategy to ensure our marketing delivers on the AAFP’s overarching business goals. Analysis and Oversight: Evaluate effectiveness of channel strategy and make adjustments to strategy to optimize performance; oversee the monitoring of deliverability and account reputation in line with CAN-SPAM and GDPR regulations. Other duties as assigned. #LI-Hybrid REQUIREMENTS: Requires a bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing, or related area (or through equivalent work experience), plus a minimum of 10+ years related work experience. Required skills for success include: Strong expertise in social media analytics tools (e.g. Sprout Social, Hootsuite, Google Analytics) and ability to translate insights into strategy. Expertise in paid social media platforms (e.g., Meta Ads Manager, LinkedIn Campaign Manager) and organic social media management tools (e.g., Sprinklr). CRM experience with marketing automation. Strong leadership skills with an ability to navigate complex organizations. Strategic thinker with a hands-on, metrics-driven approach. Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills. You’ll be an integral figure in this transformation, ensuring smooth migration of content, adherence to governance standards, and adoption of best practices in the new authoring environment. As Senior Content Management Specialist, you will be responsible for creating, editing, and publishing high-quality, approved text and image content within our CMS to establish engaging, informative, and accessible web pages. You’ll partner closely with experts across divisions—Marketing, Membership, Advocacy, Education, Practice Advancement, and more—to ensure our new website aligns with strategic goals and delivers a superior experience for AAFP members and key stakeholders. SPECIFIC ASPECTS INCLUDE: Maintain and publish web content via AEM while the new site is being redesigned, ensuring format consistency, branding and overall site continuity based on editorial style. Author web pages for the new website in Sanity. Provide feedback when design components recommended by the content strategist/writer don't work with the content provided. The alternate solution/recommendation is provided using our design component library. Take ownership of assigned projects, meeting deadlines and deliverables with a keen eye for detail. SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES: The Editorial Assistant is based in the Kansas City metropolitan area, offering a primarily work-from-home schedule, with periodic onsite presence for training, meetings and other events. The Editorial Assistant supports editorial content development processes for AAFP’s industry leading medical journals and clinical monograph series to ensure timely and efficient movement of manuscripts from submission to acceptance. The Editorial Assistant also compiles and proofs content for publication in print and digital channels. Performing a variety of administrative tasks is also a significant aspect of this role, which requires independent work as well as collaboration with other members of the American Family Physician (www.aafp.org/afp), FPM (www.aafp.org/fpm), and FP Essentials (www.aafp.org/fpe) medical and professional editing teams. SPECIFIC ASPECTS INCLUDE: Performs editorial processes including intake of submitted manuscripts, peer review coordination, formatting of accepted manuscripts, securing disclosure, copyright, and permission forms from authors and other copyright holders, and generating and distributing editorial reports to monitor progress of articles toward publication. Serves as a primary point of contact for medical editors, authors, peer reviewers, and staff as this work unfolds. Compiles and proofs content for publication in print and digital formats. Performs various administrative tasks, including updating editorial policies and procedures and managing shared email inboxes. Other duties as required. REQUIREMENTS: This position requires a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in journalism, English, or related area plus moderate work experience of one year. Exceptional command of English grammar and usage and excellent time management and organizational skills with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks to meet deadlines. Knowledge of editorial standards, publishing processes, and knowledge of medical terminology helpful.
