You will assist students with a variety of special education needs, ranging from mild to severe. As an Assistant Teacher, you will work closely with the lead teacher to design and implement engaging lessons, manage classroom activities, and create an inclusive atmosphere that fosters student growth. Key Responsibilities: • Assist certified staff in the classroom by implementing academic adaptations and individualized education plans (IEPs). • Support students individually or in small groups, focusing on their self-care and social/behavioral needs. • Ensure a safe and conducive classroom environment for all learners. • Provide immediate support for students during crisis situations. • Utilize a variety of instructional methods to enhance student engagement and improve learning outcomes. Required Qualifications: • High school diploma obtained in the United States. • 6+ months of experience supporting individuals with special needs, with a preference for child-focused roles. • Professional proficiency in English. • Must have US Work Authorization; sponsorship for employment visa or relocation assistance is not available at this time. Physical Requirements: • Comfortable being active and moving around the classroom throughout the day. • Able to lift up to 20 lbs and assist students safely as needed (which may include kneeling, bending, and quick response). • Additional physical requirements may be assessed during the application process. Preferred Qualifications/Experience: • Experience working in special education, especially with moderate to severe behaviors. • Familiarity with personal care tasks, including diapering and toileting. • Ability to handle unexpected behaviors, such as hitting and biting. • Comfort with eloping situations and experience utilizing behavior strategies. • Experience in collecting data and implementing behavior intervention plans. • Associate's degree or higher (from a US institution or equivalent). • Pro-Act training, CPR and First Aid certification. Salary and Benefits: • Pay: $17-18/hour, with weekly payments. • Schedule: Monday to Friday, between 7:30 am and 3:00/4:30 pm (no weekend work). • Benefits include weekly direct deposit, potential health coverage, and 401(k) participation based on eligibility criteria.
