About the Role As a Mobile Equipment Operator at Atlas Tube, a division of Zekelman Industries, in Chicago, IL, located on the Southside, you will play a key role in supporting yard and production operations by loading and unloading delivery trucks, moving coils throughout the coil yard, and transporting finished products for shipment. This position requires strong equipment operation skills, clear communication, and a safety-first mindset, and offers the opportunity to contribute directly to efficient material flow and continuous production operations. You will collaborate with the Mill Supervisor General Foreman, Production Foreman/Managers, crane operators, slitter operators, and other yard and production teams to ensure equipment and materials are in the right place at the right time. This is a full-time onsite role located in Chicago, IL on the Southside. This role is perfect for someone who thrives in an industrial environment, works reliably with minimal supervision, and takes pride in safe, accurate, and efficient equipment operation. Shift: 3 PM to 11:00 PM Pay: $25.70 per hour plus Production Incentive Bonus What You’ll Do Assist with loading and unloading delivery trucks to support incoming and outgoing shipments. Move master coils around the coil yard to maintain orderly storage and steady production flow. Transport finished products throughout the yard and stage loads for shipment. Receive and follow verbal and written instructions from Production Foreman and Managers. Communicate with crane and slitter operators to ensure continuous production flow to equipment. Perform daily inspections on mobile equipment and report issues as needed. Position forks or lifting devices under, over, or around loads and transport materials to designated areas. Unload and stack material by raising and lowering lifting devices safely and accurately. Load and unload materials to and from pallets, skids, and lifting devices. Empty dumpsters and move pallets, barrels, and other items as required for yard organization. Assist coil receiving with delivery, storage, sorting, and movement of master coils. Support unloading from the form mill, storage and stacking of pipe in the west yard, and building pipe loads for shipment. Report safety, quality, and operational irregularities or malfunctions that require additional leadership support. Lead and promote healthy and safe work practices as required by regulatory agencies and Company policy. Perform other duties as assigned. Who You Are 1+ years of industrial experience preferred. Ability to work shift work, including overtime as needed. Good work history with references required. Strong attention to detail, dependability, professionalism, and work ethic. Ability to communicate effectively with supervisors and cross-functional teams. Physical Abilities Ability to regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Ability to walk or stand for at least 80% of the shift. Ability to work safely outdoors/in yard conditions around moving equipment and materials.
