This is a Permanent Job in Sacramento and requires 3 days a week onsite, 2 days remote. We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Cloud Azure Systems Administrator with deep expertise in Microsoft Azure, cloud transformation, and enterprise migration projects. This position will lead the design, implementation, and support of cloud-based infrastructure solutions while driving the migration of legacy on-premises systems and VMware workloads to native Azure services. The ideal candidate combines strong infrastructure engineering fundamentals with hands-on experience in Azure architecture, cloud security, automation, and large-scale migration initiatives. This role will partner closely with infrastructure, security, networking, and application teams to modernize enterprise platforms and improve operational efficiency. Key Responsibilities Cloud Infrastructure & Architecture • Design, deploy, and maintain Microsoft Azure infrastructure. • Implement Azure landing zones and governance frameworks. • Manage Azure networking, virtual WAN, ExpressRoute, and VPN connectivity. • Design highly available and resilient cloud solutions. Cloud Migration & Modernization • Lead cloud-to-cloud migration initiatives, including Microsoft 365 and Azure tenant migrations. • Design and execute VMware-to-Azure migration strategies using Azure Migrate and related tools. • Modernize legacy workloads into Azure-native solutions. • Assess existing environments and develop migration roadmaps. Identity & Security • Administer Microsoft Entra ID (Azure AD). • Implement Conditional Access, MFA, Privileged Identity Management (PIM), and Zero Trust principles. • Ensure compliance with security and governance standards. Automation & DevOps • Develop automation using PowerShell, Azure Automation, Logic Apps, and scripting frameworks. • Implement Infrastructure as Code using Terraform and/or Bicep. • Automate deployment, configuration, and monitoring processes. Operational Excellence • Monitor cloud performance, availability, and costs. • Implement backup and disaster recovery solutions. • Lead troubleshooting efforts for complex infrastructure issues. • Serve as a technical lead for cloud transformation initiatives. Required Qualifications Required • 7+ years of IT infrastructure engineering experience. • 5+ years of Microsoft Azure administration and engineering experience. • Experience migrating enterprise workloads from VMware to Azure. • Experience with Azure Migrate, Site Recovery, and cloud adoption frameworks. • Strong knowledge of: • Azure Virtual Machines • Azure Storage • Azure Networking • Entra ID • Azure Backup • Azure Monitor • Azure Security Center / Defender • Advanced PowerShell scripting skills. • Experience with Microsoft 365, hybrid identity, and Active Directory. Preferred • Terraform or Bicep experience. • Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD). • Kubernetes (AKS). • Azure Landing Zones. • Azure Arc. • Experience with mergers, acquisitions, and tenant-to-tenant migrations. • Experience with Rubrik, Veeam, or enterprise backup platforms. Certifications Strongly Preferred - Not Required • Azure Solutions Architect Expert (AZ-305) • Azure Administrator Associate (AZ-104) • Azure Security Engineer Associate (AZ-500) • Microsoft Certified: Azure Network Engineer (AZ-700)
