Extensive experience in full-stack development with TypeScript, React, Node.js, cloud platforms, and API integrations, but lacking Scala, GraphQL, NoSQL, and infrastructure as code experience required for this role.

We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer to work on a project in the green energy industry. The project: Our teammates are talented people that come from a variety of backgrounds. Specifically, you will join the API Platform team, focusing on building and supporting mission-critical components for a retail energy platform. Your work will involve developing a high-performance GraphQL API and an event gateway to provide coherent, low-latency data access for global energy clients. You should be comfortable working in a highly collaborative environment where pairing and swarming on complex problems are the norm. What you will do: - Develop and support core products including a GraphQL API and event gateway using Scala. - Work on a mix of discovery/spike tasks, technical debt reduction, and core delivery tickets. - Play an active role in agile ceremonies, including weekly planning, daily stand-ups, backlog refinement, and retrospectives. - Collaborate with the wider engineering community on platform health reviews, post-mortems, and improving shared services. - Utilize Infrastructure as Code (IaC) to manage deployments on Kubernetes. What you will bring: - 7+ years of experience in backend software development. - Strong professional experience with Scala. - Proven track record with CI/CD pipelines and Infrastructure as Code (Terraform). - Experience working with GraphQL and NoSQL databases (e.g., DynamoDB). - Evidence of proactively and independently solving complex problems. - A collaborative mindset with experience in pair programming and peer reviews. Nice to have: - Experience with Kafka and Avro for event-driven architectures. - Familiarity with AWS components and monitoring tools. - Knowledge of Kubernetes-hosted environments. - Awareness of SRE concepts, such as disaster recovery and platform health monitoring. - Experience in software design, service architecture, or technical options analysis.
