Location: EST or CST Time Zones Only (Remote/Hybrid based on project needs) Employment Type: Contract - 6 Month Work Authorization: US Citizen or Green Card holders only (No third-party involvement) Industry: Healthcare IT About the Role We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Solution Architect with Healthcare Payer experience to lead the design and implementation of enterprise-scale healthcare technology solutions. This role requires deep technical expertise, strong architectural leadership, and proven experience working with healthcare payer organizations. You will be responsible for defining architectural vision, aligning technology strategies with business objectives, leading Proof of Concept (POC) initiatives, and guiding engineering teams across multiple Agile Release Trains (ARTs). This is a critical leadership role requiring both hands-on technical expertise and strategic architectural thinking. Key Responsibilities • Design and evolve scalable, secure, and resilient enterprise solution architectures • Define and communicate architectural vision across engineering teams and stakeholders • Lead Proof of Concept (POC) development and technical feasibility assessments • Align technology solutions with business strategy and healthcare payer requirements • Define technical standards, best practices, and architectural governance • Assess and recommend strategies for application scaling and enterprise readiness • Design and optimize cloud-native and microservices-based architectures • Evaluate and recommend new technologies, tools, and architectural approaches • Identify technical risks, performance bottlenecks, and scalability challenges • Define technical specifications to meet functional and non-functional requirements • Lead continuous delivery and DevOps enablement initiatives • Mentor architects, developers, and engineering teams • Collaborate with customers, partners, and internal engineering teams • Provide technical leadership across Agile Release Trains (ARTs) • Ensure compliance, security, and regulatory requirements are met Mandatory Requirements • US Citizen or Green Card holder only • Minimum 10+ years of experience in software engineering and/or solution architecture • Healthcare payer domain experience is mandatory (Examples: Aetna, BCBS, Highmark Health, Kaiser Permanente, Cigna, Humana, UnitedHealthcare, etc.) • Strong software development background (Not data-only profiles) • Minimum 3 years of consistency in recent roles/projects • Stable career history (No job hoppers) • Must be located in EST or CST time zones only • Strong experience in enterprise application architecture Required Technical Skills • Strong expertise in at least two or more of the following domains: • Cloud Architecture (Azure, AWS, or GCP) • Microservices Architecture • API Architecture and Integration • DevOps and CI/CD • Security Architecture • Enterprise Application Architecture • Strong experience with: • Software development using Java, C#, .NET, or similar • Cloud-native application design • Container technologies (Docker, Kubernetes) • DevOps, CI/CD pipelines, and automation • Agile and SAFe methodologies • Enterprise integrations and API design Preferred Qualifications • Healthcare payer platform architecture experience • Experience with Azure Solution Architect or similar cloud certifications • Experience with FHIR, HL7, or healthcare interoperability standards • Experience in enterprise modernization initiatives • Strong knowledge of healthcare regulatory and compliance environments • Experience mentoring and leading engineering teams • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills Key Responsibilities in Healthcare Payer Context • Architect solutions supporting claims, enrollment, billing, provider networks, and member services • Design secure, scalable healthcare enterprise applications • Ensure compliance with healthcare data security and regulatory standards • Support healthcare digital transformation initiatives
