Position Summary WMF seeks a qualified professional to serve as World Monuments Watch Program Manager. This role is responsible for the overall administration and strategic coordination of the World Monuments Watch, WMF’s flagship program championing heritage action at sites nominated by individuals and organizations worldwide. The Watch Program Manager ensures that the program and its activities remain aligned with WMF’s institutional priorities and field project selection criteria. Reporting to the SVP of Global Preservation Strategy, the role also oversees the Watch Network, a global professional community connecting past and present Watch alumni to foster collaboration, knowledge exchange, and capacity building. The Watch Program Manager may also have direct management responsibilities for select field projects for which s/he must develop project vision and scope, collaborate with local partners and supervise consultants, oversee intervention design and implementation, and coordinate all reporting and evaluation. Responsibilities Watch Program • Establish and manage key objectives, timelines, and budgets for the entire Watch program, under the supervision of the SVP of Global Preservation Strategy • Prepare guidelines and all tools necessary for implementation of the program, including nomination, selection, and program announcement. • Manage, in close coordination with Communications, messaging and program descriptions relevant to the call for nominations, nomination development, Watch announcement and associated events and/or programs. • Coordinate and supervise the review of all submitted nominations in collaboration with WMF staff and external partners, including fielding inquiries from nominators. • Participate in planning for Watch Day activities with the responsibility for approving proposals for locally organized public events. • Oversee the coordination and strategic development of the Watch Network, a global professional community of past and present Watch participants. • Plan and deliver professional programming for Network members, including convenings and knowledge-exchange events, and develop and administer grant schemes that support collaboration, capacity building, and project development. • Manage the Bonnie Burnham Fellowship, including coordination of fellowship activities, supervision and mentorship of the Fellow, and integration of the Fellowship into the broader goals of the Watch program and Watch Network. • Participate, as needed, in the development of projects at select World Monuments Watch sites and the programmatic priorities that they represent. Project Management • Liaise with government partners, stakeholders, and local community members to develop consensus about project objectives and activities and engage with them during project implementation. • In collaboration with the SVP of Global Preservation Strategy, develop project scope and budget and relevant proposals and summaries. • Design and manage project budgets and timelines, tracking progress and expenditure and producing timely and accurate reporting for internal distribution, partners, and donors. • Manage consultants, define work activities, prepare contracts and oversee activities, regularly reviewing progress with all partners. • Manage project implementation, defining metrics for monitoring and evaluation, preparing time schedules, defining activities and goals, and ensuring goals are met. General Responsibilities • Represent WMF at conferences, meetings, and other events as appropriate, especially as relates to discussions focused on the Watch program and/or specific projects within the individual’s portfolio. • Work effectively and collaboratively across the organization to support institutional objectives, including preparation of funding proposals and development of public messaging. • Contribute to project-specific and thematic research as part of the expansion of WMF’s role in thought leadership, including development of strategic academic and professional relationships with a view towards publication and greater visibility of our work on professional platforms. Qualifications • Graduate degree in Historic Preservation / Cultural Resource Management or related field • At least 5 years of experience in cultural heritage project management, preferably more • Experience developing historic structure reports, conservation management plans, protected status nomination files, or other documents that compile historical research, documentation, condition assessments and conservation and management recommendations • Familiarity with political structure of preservation local, regional, and national levels in at least one country • Demonstrated experience giving professional lectures, writing professional reports, and running formal meetings • Computer fluency in Microsoft environment (Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) and familiarity with one or more technical data management platforms (e.g. GIS, CAD, Arches) • Exceptional oral and written communication skills • Excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to interact with international colleagues and develop effective working relationships with colleagues within the organization and beyond • Highly organized and detail oriented with a demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver projects according to deadlines and within approved budgets • Ability to work gracefully under pressure • Comfort working in an international environment and with a broad and diverse range of people • Proficiency in another language desirable, but not required What we offer WMF offers a comprehensive and highly competitive compensation package, including paid holidays.
