We're seeking an AI Agent Engineer to accelerate the development and integration of GitHub Copilot agents and extensions. This role focuses on building AI-native developer experiences by combining GitHub Copilot and Azure AI Foundry. The ideal candidate has demonstrated experience delivering LLM-powered or agentic systems into production, strong collaboration and communication skills, and a proven ability to use modern AI tooling to accelerate software development while maintaining enterprise standards for reliability and scale. Responsibilities Agent Development & Integration • Design, build, and integrate GitHub Copilot agents (Copilot Extensions) using GitHub Apps and Copilot Chat APIs • Develop and operate LLM-powered agent backends leveraging Azure AI Foundry, including tool orchestration and reasoning workflows • Implement agent tools that integrate with GitHub repositories, developer workflows, CI/CD systems, and Azure services Architecture & Deployment • Design scalable agent architectures using Azure serverless (Azure Functions) or containerized deployments (Azure Container Apps, AKS) • Implement event-driven and webhook-based integration patterns for real-time agent responses • Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines for automated agent deployment and versioning • Design for multi-tenant agent deployments that can scale from team-level to organization-wide usage • Implement infrastructure as code (Bicep, Terraform) for reproducible and consistent agent deployments Operations & Quality • Partner with product and engineering teams to move agent solutions from experimentation to production deployment • Apply AI-native development practices to accelerate coding, debugging, and system design • Establish evaluation, monitoring, and quality practices for agent reliability and performance Optimize agent response times, throughput, and cost-per-interaction metrics Required Qualifications • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience • Experience building and integrating GitHub Copilot agents or Copilot Extensions • Strong understanding of GitHub Apps, authentication, webhooks, and GitHub APIs • Proficiency in Python for building LLM-powered agents, tools, and orchestration layers • Hands-on experience with Azure AI Foundry or equivalent Azure AI services • Experience implementing and operating LLM-based or agentic systems in production • Experience deploying applications to Azure using serverless (Functions) or container platforms (Container Apps, AKS) • Understanding of REST API design, event-driven architectures, and microservices patterns • Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate across technical and non-technical teams
