ABOUT THE JOB The Vice President of Business Development is a senior leadership role responsible for driving the company’s long-term growth through strategic supplier partnerships, portfolio development, and revenue expansion across wholesale and ecommerce channels. This role owns the identification, recruitment, and management of domestic and international winery partners while collaborating closely with Sales, Marketing, Operations, and Supply Chain to ensure commercial success across the U.S. market. The VP of Business Development serves as a primary relationship owner for key producers and plays a critical role in shaping the company’s national wine portfolio, ensuring alignment with market trends, customer needs, and company growth objectives. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/THE DAY-TO-DAY Supplier & Producer Development (Domestic & International) • Identify, recruit, evaluate, and onboard new domestic and international winery partners aligned with the company’s growth strategy and portfolio vision • Serve as a senior relationship owner for winery partners, working closely with the VP, PCG and executive leadership on strategic alignment and long-term partnership development • Lead and support producer contract negotiations, including pricing structures, commercial terms, allocations, exclusivity, and performance expectations • Actively manage and strengthen producer relationships to ensure engagement, performance, and alignment with company goals • Represent the company at winery visits, tastings, trade shows, and key industry events both domestically and internationally Portfolio Strategy & Management • Build, manage, and continuously optimize the national and wholesale wine portfolio to align with market demand, customer needs, and financial targets • Partner with Sales, Marketing, and Design teams to ensure portfolio assortment, positioning, and brand storytelling are best-in-class • Monitor domestic and global wine market trends, competitive landscape, and emerging regions, producers, and categories • Ensure portfolio readiness for sales execution, including pricing, brand strategy, and channel alignment Ecommerce & Digital Growth • Develop and execute ecommerce sales strategies to meet revenue and growth targets across key online marketplaces • Pioneer and cultivate new ecommerce partnerships, identifying assortment, placement, and marketing opportunities to drive incremental sales • Build trusted relationships to position the company as a premium ecommerce supplier • Conduct ongoing competitive and platform research to understand ecommerce marketing, merchandising, and sales strategies • Create, oversee, and optimize product descriptions and digital content for ecommerce platforms • Conceptualize digital marketing initiatives, analyze performance data, and measure ROI to inform strategy Data, Systems & Cross-Functional Leadership • Oversee supplier onboarding processes, ensuring compliance with internal standards, documentation, and timelines • Manage and maintain accurate product data and digital assets within Salsify, ensuring sales and distribution readiness • Implement and utilize analytics to track sales trends, portfolio performance, and growth opportunities • Collaborate cross-functionally with Sales, Marketing, Operations, Supply Chain, and Finance to support portfolio execution and profitability • Actively participate in weekly, quarterly, and annual sales meetings, preparing insights and strategic updates for internal teams and brand partners • This is not intended to be a comprehensive list of the duties and responsibilities of the position and that the duties and responsibilities may change without notice.
