Overview We are seeking a Business Analyst with deep experience supporting K–12 school districts or K–12-focused organizations, either directly or in a consulting capacity. This role is primarily a functional analyst position, responsible for partnering with K–12 stakeholders to understand operational, financial, and academic needs and translate them into clear, actionable requirements. The Business Analyst will serve as a key liaison between business stakeholders and technical teams, ensuring K–12 requirements are clearly defined, understood, and met. This is a fully remote position for candidates based in the Chicagoland area, with occasional in-person collaboration. The role requires the ability to travel to the office approximately twice per month for team meetings or client-related activities. Experience with Power BI or other reporting and technology tools is a plus. Candidates with this experience may support data analysis, dashboards, and reporting to deliver stakeholder-friendly insights; however, the primary focus of this role is K–12 functional expertise, stakeholder engagement, and requirements definition. Key Responsibilities • Partner with K–12 stakeholders (e.g., district leadership, finance, HR, operations, IT, and instructional teams) to understand business processes, priorities, and challenges • Elicit, document, and validate business and functional requirements within a K–12 environment • Analyze K–12 processes and data across key areas such as finance, budgeting, enrollment, staffing, payroll, student data, and operations • Translate K–12 business needs into clear requirements for technical teams, vendors, or data/reporting solutions • Serve as a liaison between school district users and technical resources to ensure solutions align with K–12 needs and constraints • Support reporting, data analysis, and performance insights for K–12 decision-makers • Facilitate stakeholder meetings, workshops, and requirements sessions with both technical and non-technical participants • Contribute to data governance, reporting standards, and best practices appropriate for K–12 organizations Required Qualifications • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Education, Information Systems, Public Administration, or a related field • Direct experience working within a K–12 school district or as a consultant supporting K–12 clients • 5+ years of experience as a Business Analyst, Functional Analyst, or similar role • Strong understanding of K–12 operations, finance, staffing, enrollment, and/or instructional data • Proven ability to gather and document requirements and work directly with business stakeholders • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain complex concepts clearly • Must be based in the Chicagoland area; role is fully remote with occasional in-office presence (approximately twice per month) Preferred Qualifications • Experience with Power BI or other reporting and visualization tools • Familiarity with K–12 tech systems (e.g., SIS, ERP, finance, HR, or data platforms) • Experience supporting technology implementations or data/reporting initiatives in a K–12 setting • Additional requirements: • Ability to pass a criminal background check • Authorized to work in the US for any employer • Local in the Chicagoland area Benefits: Comprehensive benefits package including: • Performance Bonus Eligible • 401(k) plan • Medical, Dental and Vision Insurance • Life and disability insurance • Commuter Benefits • Paid time off options, including vacation, sick time, fixed holidays, parental leave.
