Lead Front of House for World-Class Contemporary Dance in Seattle Whim W’Him is Seattle’s premiere contemporary dance company, known for innovation, artistic excellence, and work that resonates locally and internationally. Our performances bring audiences into an up-close experience of bold new dance, supported by a small, ambitious team that cares deeply about craft, hospitality, and the way people feel from the moment they buy a ticket to the final curtain. We’re seeking a Front of House & Box Office Manager who is warm, solutions-focused, and detail-driven, and who takes pride in creating a seamless, high-touch patron experience. This is a hands-on, contract role for someone who can hit the ground running, confident with systems, calm under pressure, and ready to lead front-of-house and box office operations across our Spring performances and events. THE ROLE • Lead the audience experience from first ticket inquiry to final curtain call • Run box office operations (online, phone, and in-person), including ticket collections and performance-day workflows • Coordinate front-of-house staff and volunteers (ushers, check-in, seating, intermission flow) • Troubleshoot patron issues with tact, speed, and good judgment • Maintain accurate sales reporting, reconciliation, and performance notes • Work closely with stage management/venue teams so front-of-house and backstage stay in sync • Support special events and receptions (pre/post-show activities, donor and community events) SKILLS & EXPERIENCES • 1–2+ years in ticketing and/or front-of-house management (performing arts strongly preferred) • Strong customer service instincts: you’re personable, professional, and unflappable • Confident with ticketing systems (we use Audience View; comparable systems welcome) • Solid admin and cash-handling habits (accurate, accountable, detail-driven) • Great communicator who can lead with warmth and clarity • A genuine love of the arts and a respect for the role audience experience plays in making it thrive • Must be eligible to work in the United States LOGISTICS • Fixed-term, approximately 3-month contract (March-May 2026) • Based in Seattle with in-person presence required for performances and events; some remote admin work may be possible • Work includes nights and weekends aligned to performance and events schedules • Ability to assist with light event load-in/load-out and front-of-house setup • Based in Seattle, with in-person presence required for performances and events; some remote admin work may be possible COMPENSATION This is a fixed-term contract paid at a rate of $30 per hour.
