Our client is seeking a strategic and analytical Senior Mining Operations Analyst to enhance the efficiency and profitability of their mining operations. This role involves deep dives into operational data, identifying key performance indicators (KPIs), and developing actionable insights to optimize production, reduce costs, and improve safety. You will work closely with site management, engineering teams, and executive leadership to translate complex data into clear recommendations and strategic plans. The ideal candidate possesses a strong quantitative background, excellent analytical skills, and a thorough understanding of mining processes and challenges. This is a key position that directly impacts the success of our client's mining ventures and requires a proactive approach to problem-solving in Raleigh, North Carolina, US . Responsibilities: Analyze operational data from various mining sites to identify trends, inefficiencies, and areas for improvement. Develop and maintain dashboards and reports to track key performance indicators (KPIs) related to production, cost, safety, and equipment utilization. Conduct in-depth analysis of mining processes, from exploration to extraction and processing, to identify optimization opportunities. Collaborate with site managers and operational teams to implement data-driven strategies and best practices. Model financial impacts of operational changes and provide recommendations for cost reduction and revenue enhancement. Research and evaluate new technologies and methodologies to improve mining efficiency and sustainability. Prepare comprehensive reports and presentations for senior management, highlighting findings, recommendations, and strategic insights. Assist in the development of operational budgets and long-term strategic plans. Provide analytical support for feasibility studies and project evaluations. Ensure data accuracy and integrity across all operational reporting systems. Facilitate cross-functional collaboration to ensure alignment on operational goals and strategies. Stay abreast of industry best practices and regulatory changes impacting mining operations. Identify risks and develop mitigation strategies to ensure operational continuity and safety. Train operational staff on data analysis tools and techniques as needed. Contribute to a culture of continuous improvement and operational excellence. Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Mining Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Data Science, Economics, or a related quantitative field. Master's degree preferred. Minimum of 5 years of experience in operational analysis, data science, or a similar analytical role within the mining industry. Strong proficiency in data analysis tools and techniques (e.g., Excel, SQL, Python/R for data analysis). Experience with data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI). Solid understanding of mining operations, processes, and economics. Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills. Strong communication and presentation skills, with the ability to convey complex information clearly to diverse audiences. Ability to work independently and as part of a team, managing multiple projects simultaneously. Experience with mine planning software or simulation tools is a plus. Knowledge of environmental and safety regulations in the mining sector. Detail-oriented with a commitment to data accuracy and quality.
