Our client is seeking a seasoned Strategic Sourcing Manager to lead procurement initiatives from their base in Houston, Texas, US . This pivotal role involves developing and executing sourcing strategies for key categories, managing supplier relationships, and driving cost savings and value creation across the organization. The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience in strategic sourcing, category management, contract negotiation, and supplier performance management within complex supply chains. You will be responsible for identifying and qualifying new suppliers, conducting market intelligence to understand cost drivers and industry trends, and leading complex sourcing events such as RFPs and RFQs. A significant part of your role will involve negotiating favorable terms and conditions, establishing robust supplier performance metrics, and actively managing supplier relationships to ensure supply continuity, quality, and innovation. You will collaborate closely with internal stakeholders, including engineering, operations, finance, and legal departments, to understand their needs and align sourcing strategies accordingly. Developing and implementing category strategies that support the company's overall business objectives, including cost reduction targets, risk mitigation, and sustainability initiatives, will be a core function. The successful candidate will also be adept at analyzing spend data, identifying opportunities for consolidation and synergy, and managing complex contracts throughout their lifecycle. This role requires strong analytical skills, exceptional negotiation capabilities, and a deep understanding of procurement best practices. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are essential for building strong relationships with both internal stakeholders and external suppliers. Qualifications: - Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Engineering, or a related field. MBA is a plus. - Minimum of 6 years of progressive experience in strategic sourcing, procurement, or category management. - Proven track record of developing and executing successful sourcing strategies that deliver significant cost savings and value. - Expertise in contract negotiation, supplier management, and risk mitigation. - Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data, identify trends, and make data-driven decisions. - Proficient in sourcing and procurement software, e.g., SAP Ariba, Coupa, Oracle Procurement. - Excellent understanding of global supply chains and market dynamics. - Outstanding written and verbal communication skills, with demonstrated ability to influence stakeholders at all levels. - Strong project management skills and the ability to manage multiple sourcing projects simultaneously. - Professional certifications such as CPSM or CIPS are highly desirable.
