Our client, a leading manufacturing firm, is seeking a highly experienced Senior Operations Manager to oversee and optimize production processes at their facility in Detroit, Michigan . This role is critical for driving operational efficiency, ensuring product quality, and managing a large team of production staff and supervisors. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of lean manufacturing principles, supply chain management, and continuous improvement methodologies. You will be responsible for strategic planning, resource allocation, and fostering a culture of safety and excellence within the operations department. Key Responsibilities: Direct and manage all aspects of daily manufacturing operations to meet production targets and quality standards. Develop and implement strategic operational plans to improve efficiency, reduce costs, and enhance productivity. Lead, mentor, and develop a team of production supervisors and line employees, fostering a high-performance culture. Oversee inventory management, supply chain logistics, and vendor relationships to ensure seamless operations. Implement and champion lean manufacturing initiatives, Six Sigma projects, and other continuous improvement programs. Ensure strict adherence to safety regulations, environmental policies, and quality control procedures. Manage departmental budgets, monitor expenditures, and identify opportunities for cost savings. Collaborate with engineering, quality assurance, and sales departments to align operational capabilities with business objectives. Analyze operational data to identify trends, troubleshoot issues, and implement corrective actions. Drive innovation in manufacturing processes and technologies to maintain a competitive edge. Conduct performance reviews and provide regular feedback to direct reports. The successful candidate will hold a Bachelor's degree in Operations Management, Industrial Engineering, Business Administration, or a related field. A Master's degree or MBA is a plus. Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in manufacturing operations management is required, with a proven track record of successfully managing large teams and complex production environments. Strong knowledge of lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, and supply chain principles is essential. Excellent leadership, decision-making, problem-solving, and communication skills are paramount. Experience with ERP systems and manufacturing execution systems (MES) is highly desirable.
