Our client is a leading innovator in the petrochemical sector and is seeking a highly experienced Senior Chemical Process Engineer to join their critical operations in Houston, Texas, US . This role is essential for the design, optimization, and troubleshooting of complex chemical processes that drive the company's success. The Senior Chemical Process Engineer will be responsible for developing and implementing innovative solutions to enhance process efficiency, safety, and environmental performance across various production units. You will work closely with operations, R&D, and project management teams to ensure seamless process integration and continuous improvement. Key responsibilities include leading process design for new facilities and modifications, conducting feasibility studies, performing complex simulations and modeling, and developing Process Hazard Analyses (PHAs). You will also be tasked with troubleshooting production issues, identifying root causes, and implementing effective corrective actions. The role demands a strong understanding of chemical engineering principles, including thermodynamics, reaction kinetics, fluid dynamics, and heat transfer, as well as extensive experience with process safety management (PSM) regulations. The successful candidate will be a strategic thinker, capable of managing multiple projects and providing expert technical guidance. We are looking for a candidate with a proven history of success in the chemical industry, specifically within refining, petrochemicals, or specialty chemicals. Experience with scale-up activities, debottlenecking projects, and developing standard operating procedures (SOPs) is highly valued. The ability to effectively communicate technical information to stakeholders at all levels, both written and verbally, is crucial. Responsibilities: Lead the design and development of new chemical processes and equipment. Optimize existing processes for improved yield, efficiency, and safety. Conduct detailed process simulations and economic evaluations. Perform Process Hazard Analyses (PHAs) and develop safety protocols. Troubleshoot operational problems and implement sustainable solutions. Develop and review P&IDs, PFDs, and equipment specifications. Ensure compliance with all regulatory and environmental standards. Provide technical leadership and mentorship to engineering teams. Manage projects and ensure timely delivery of objectives. Qualifications: Ph.D. or Master's degree in Chemical Engineering. 10+ years of relevant experience in the chemical industry, preferably petrochemicals or refining. Expertise in process simulation software (e.g., Aspen Plus, HYSYS). In-depth knowledge of Process Safety Management (PSM) principles and practices. Strong understanding of unit operations and chemical reaction engineering. Excellent leadership, problem-solving, and communication skills. Experience with project management methodologies. Professional Engineer (PE) license is a plus.
