Full Description

Job Summary Whatcom Democrats is seeking a part-time Program Manager to replace a retiring employee who has served the organization for over a decade. This position is the institutional backbone of the county party—providing continuity, reliability, and a welcoming public presence while supporting volunteers, members, and leadership. This is an ideal role for someone seeking meaningful, long-term part-time work serving the local community and strengthening democratic participation. Key Responsibilities Office & Public Interface • Maintain regular office hours; welcome walk-ins and answer phone calls • Keep the office organized, accessible, and operational Volunteer Coordination • Recruit, schedule, and support office volunteers • Ensure consistent office coverage Membership & Records • Send membership renewal notices • Database management, oversight of data entry • Track and update records accurately and confidentially Administrative & Financial Support • Pay rent, utilities, and routine bills • Collect donations and convey them promptly to the Treasurer for deposit and reporting • Maintain internal transaction records (not responsible for compliance reporting) Communications • Collect content and assemble the monthly newsletter • Support basic communications related to events and engagement Governance & Events • Attend Executive Board meetings • Coordinate logistics for major annual events, including: • Summer Picnic • Eleanor Roosevelt Dinner (fundraiser) • Holiday Party Desired Qualifications • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills • Comfort working with the public and volunteers • Experience with databases, spreadsheets, and basic office tools • Reliability, discretion, and attention to detail • Familiarity with Democratic Party organizations or civic engagement is a plus Compensation Hourly, part-time position. $21-23/hr. Compensation dependent on experience. Pay: $21.00 - $23.00 per hour Expected hours: 20.0 per week Work Location: In person
