About the Team/Role We are seeking a seasoned Director of Engineering in the WEX Corporate Payments Engineering organization. This role will lead the engineering teams for the WEX Transact Global (TAG) platform. TAG is a credit card issuing processor that issues, authorizes, and clears card transactions at high scale for our Corporate Payments and Travel customers. The platform is a focal point for the support and processing of WEX global payments. How you’ll make an impact: Develop, drive and execute a long-term vision and strategy for the Corporate Payments cross-cutting and core services. Define and implement a comprehensive architectural roadmap for the Transact Global platforms, aligning with business objectives, industry best practices, and other Corporate Payments teams. Foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, empowerment, and continuous learning within the engineering teams. Continuously challenge the status quo and implement mechanisms to reduce time-to-market using efficient engineering methods. Collaborate with other Corporate Payments engineering teams to reuse development practices and components to reduce duplication. Craft, lead, manage, and grow high-performance engineering teams. Hire, coach, promote, and retain high performers to achieve WEX goals. Work closely with product and commercial partners to drive, prioritize, and work backwards from the customer requirements and exceed expected outcomes. Drive effective monthly, weekly, and quarterly mechanisms to plan, execute, and audit workstreams. Establish a robust and clear engineering roadmap to maintain clarity and motivation for the engineering team. Maintain career growth plans and provide monthly and quarterly feedback for individuals’ continual progress. Establish measurement of metrics-driven development productivity across engineering teams. Comfortably present, influence, and communicate to the senior leadership team. Provide regular updates and insights to senior leadership on the challenges and opportunities within the Corporate Payments domain. Experience you'll bring: 10 years of experience in solutions architecture and software engineering with 5 years of engineering leadership experience. Expertise in rapid development and deployment of internal and external services using cloud computing platforms such as AWS or Azure. Experience writing high-quality automation, including well-formed unit, component, and integration tests and an in-depth understanding of the test pyramid. The base pay range represents the anticipated low and high end of the pay range for this position. Actual pay rates will vary and will be based on various factors, such as your qualifications, skills, competencies, and proficiency for the role. Base pay is one component of WEX's total compensation package. Most sales positions are eligible for commission under the terms of an applicable plan. Non-sales roles are typically eligible for a quarterly or annual bonus based on their role and applicable plan.
