Student Aid Operations at West Virginia University is currently accepting applications for a remote Program Coordinator. As a Program Coordinator, you’ll help administer financial aid and scholarship funds by reviewing documentation, updating records, and ensuring the accurate and timely awarding of federal, state, institutional, and private aid—all while working closely with colleagues across campus and external agencies to make a real difference for students. Wellness programs What You'll Do Administer the accurate delivery of financial aid and scholarships by effectively analyzing student records and making necessary updates and corrections based on documentation received. Employ professional judgment, as authorized by the Department of Education, to make changes to FAFSA data elements to ensure eligibility is based on a student’s current family financial situation. Communicate clearly about documentation students/parents need to provide and update systems to reflect needed documentation. Review documentation once received, verify necessary information, make reasonable, informed, fair and consistent decisions on courses of action, and make necessary adjustments to accurately reflect a student’s eligibility. Document situation and changes/adjustments that are made. Collaborate with team members to determine daily priorities and division of work based on the established expectations of management. Communicate clearly with team and other SFS staff to resolve issues, request or offer assistance, and ensure student needs are being met accurately and timely. Resolve complex problems by analyzing documents and researching federal, state and institutional policies and regulations. Manage conflicts, resolve complaints, and develop prevention strategies. Design, develop and implement educational service programs related to financial aid and scholarships. Counsel and thoroughly explain processes to customers via in-person, online, or telephone communication. Respond to questions from internal customers, routinely answer “Acknowledged” and “In Process” tickets, and assist with tickets during peak times. Continually monitor the ever-changing rules, regulations, policy bulletins, and statutes from federal, state, other agencies, and the University to ensure compliance and best practices. Train staff in areas of expertise. Perform other related duties as assigned by supervisor and other senior SFS staff. Bachelor's degree A minimum of one (1) year of experience in the following: Financial aid experience Working in a fast-paced, high-volume student services area Any equivalent combination of related education and/or experience will be considered. All qualifications must be met by the time of employment. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Strong mathematical, analytical, and problem-solving skills with a keen attention to detail. Skilled at managing multiple tasks, setting and following priorities, and meeting tight deadlines in fast-paced environments. Able to exercise sound judgment, adapt to shifting priorities, and maintain confidentiality while upholding professionalism at all times. Effective communicator who can interpret and follow complex instructions, document work accurately, and work collaboratively with diverse teams and stakeholders. Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and other computer applications; comfortable learning and applying new systems quickly. Demonstrates curiosity, respect, accountability, appreciation, and strong service orientation in all interactions. Preferred Qualifications Master's Degree Experience with the Banner Student Information System Requirements Must be able to obtain and maintain access to federal databases such as, but not limited to, FPP, COD, and NSLDS.
