We are seeking a Senior Application Engineer to join our Grid Services team! As a Senior Engineer - Application, you will support and create technical sales proposals for high voltage substation projects, products, systems, and services. You will have the responsibility to provide customers with the best solutions that positively impact business. You will serve as the engineering point person for the business for the entire Request For Quote (RFQ) process, through product site install and commissioning. Responsibilities: Provides technical expertise in high voltage substation products, acts as domain expert internally and externally. Provides pre-sales support, engineering, product selection, compatibility confirmation, and specification review. Provides post-sales support, working with customers and manufacturers, to ensure product is successfully installed and commissioned. Acts as a technical liaison between the customer, WESCO, and the selected vendors in system design, implementation, start up, and ongoing maintenance. Provides proof of concept for solving customers’ engineering and production needs. Makes joint and solo calls to customers and manufacturers. Assists account representatives in finding new sales opportunities by teaching and guiding. Responsible for technical proposal accuracy including technical specifications & clarifications/ assumptions/ exceptions, quantifying design and deliverables, installation work scope definition, cost allocation, bill of materials, and estimation of engineering, installation and testing/commissioning based on customer specifications and/or industry standards. Promotes value-add of the assigned products in competitive situations. Participates in ongoing training to maintain technical competency in product and complimentary product areas. Provide technical support to create subcontractor and power equipment bid packages Deliver high technical quality proposals including products and programs that make the proposals more accepted (compliant or clarified), effective, and cost competitive to the customer with reduced overall-performance risk. Proposal must be clear, provide customer value, and demonstrate how Wesco meets their specification requirement. Understands market conditions, competitive forces, and identifies areas for growth. Understands industry trends and technical developments that effect target markets. Maintains excellent relationships with vendor product managers and other selling resources. Makes sales contacts, researches customer needs and develops product and application information, demonstrating technology solutions for customers. Qualifications: Bachelors’ Degree - Engineering or related field required; Master's Degree preferred 5 years required, 7 years preferred technical experience with high voltage substation major equipment (main power transformers, instrument transformers, circuit breakers, disconnect switches) 5 years required, 7 years preferred of experience in power system products sales in medium or large company. 5 years required, 7 years preferred working knowledge of specifications and industry standards such as IEEE, ANSI, NEMA, UL, IEC, etc. Experience in leading or directing teams. Maintain expertise in power systems products. Attain and maintain all vendor required certifications for the specialized products. Leadership – ability to formulate and communicate clear vision and sense of direction and mobilize people. Communication – ability to pass messages using different channels (verbal and written). Facilitating – ability to organize and facilitate multidisciplinary teams through structured workshops (strategic session, Kaizens, problem solving sessions). Change management – ability to communicate a need for change, create all necessary conditions for successful change and overcome different form s of resistance. Coaching – ability to coach people to develop their skills and abilities to achieve agreed upon objectives. Training – ability to identify and formulate training needs and assure training execution and follow up. Ability to travel 25% - 50% #LI-KB1 #LI-Remote This amount is what we reasonably believe we will pay for the position; however, offer amounts may vary based on factors such as geographic location, relevant education, experience, qualifications, skills, shift, or any collective bargaining agreements. For eligible positions, compensation may include participation in a bonus or sales incentive plan, subject to the terms and conditions of the applicable plan documents.
