Full Description

As the Senior Director - Operations Engineering, you will be responsible for defining the strategy and roadmap for facility design, labor standards, and automation across the distribution network. You will be accountable for integrating physical operations with digital systems to improve efficiency, reduce cost, and enable scalable execution aligned with customer, product, and business strategies. You will establish design and automation standards, shapes long-term investment direction, and partners cross-functionally to ensure successful deployment by implementation teams. Responsibilities: Develop and own the multi-year operations engineering roadmap, aligning automation, labor standards, and facility design with business growth, customer requirements, and segment strategies Create and maintain reusable engineering templates, labor standards, and automation frameworks that ensure scalable, cost-effective rollouts across the network Responsible for developing business cases and ROI models to influence executive investment in automation, labor, and facility design programs Ensure engineered solutions are designed for compatibility with WMS, WES, LMS, and IT systems, enabling orchestration, automation readiness, and future-state scalability Collaborate with Implementation, Network Strategy, Site Ops, and IT to translate standards and designs into successful launches, site readiness, and sustained performance Accountable for evaluating emerging technologies, robotics, and automation approaches, piloting and scaling solutions that strengthen competitiveness and customer service Influence and align executive stakeholders, operations leadership, and technical partners to ensure strategies and designs support enterprise priorities Supervises, coaches, recruits, and mentors direct and indirect reports Qualifications: Bachelors Degree – Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Supply Chain, or related field required Masters Degree – MBA or advanced technical degree preferred 15 years of progressive leadership in distribution center operations engineering, supply chain optimization, and warehouse design Proven ability to set strategy and deliver large-scale automation and engineering programs across multi-site networks Demonstrated success in building and executing roadmaps that balance cost, service, and scalability Deep warehouse operations expertise: material handling, storage systems, throughput optimization, and best practices Labor management expertise: engineered labor standards, LMS integration, and productivity optimization Advanced business case development: ROI modeling, capital investment proposals, cost-benefit analysis, and executive-level presentations Expertise in multi-year automation and operations engineering roadmap creation and phased implementation Strong cross-functional leadership across Operations, IT, Finance, and Transformation Skilled in integrating automation with digital systems (WMS, WES, LMS, controls) Executive presence with the ability to influence, align, and engage diverse stakeholder groups Track record of evaluating and scaling emerging automation technologies Ability to travel 25% - 50% Working Environment: Warehouse - Work is generally performed in a warehouse environment. The noise level is moderately quiet. Generally well ventilated and well lighted. Warehouse employees may be exposed to all kinds of weather and may be required to wear protective clothing. Operates heavy equipment. Strict safety regulations may be required. Physical Expectations: Employee required to sit and drive a vehicle to perform their job. #LI-SG1 This amount is what we reasonably believe we will pay for the position; however, offer amounts may vary based on factors such as geographic location, relevant education, experience, qualifications, skills, shift, or any collective bargaining agreements. For eligible positions, compensation may include participation in a bonus or sales incentive plan, subject to the terms and conditions of the applicable plan documents.
