POSITION OVERVIEW Voices for Housing Justice (VHJ) is an intensive advocacy training program that equips people with lived experience with housing insecurity and homelessness with foundational knowledge of housing policy, the importance of storytelling, and practical skills to lead the movement towards equitable and accessible housing. The VHJ Training Manager will be responsible for designing, coordinating, and delivering training programs that build advocacy capacity across our coalition. This role ensures that training efforts are not only impactful but also deeply aligned with Welcome Home Coalition’s mission to advance equitable housing solutions and amplify the voices of those most affected by housing insecurity. This position is a hybrid remote work environment, working both at home and in person at various locations in the Portland Metro Area. It also requires someone able to work outside of regular M-F 9-5 hours, such as evenings and weekends as needed. ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES Program Development ● Conduct training needs assessments in collaboration with member organizations to identify training objectives aligned with Coalition priorities ● Design, develop, and update training programs and materials based on VHJ Curriculum ● Ensure content is inclusive, accessible, and culturally responsive to the diverse communities represented in the coalition. Outreach & Member Engagement ● Design and update VHJ marketing and communication materials ● Build relationships and develop outreach targets including member organizations, housing advocacy groups, and community leaders ● Actively promote training opportunities to coalition members ● Collaborate with member organizations to create training cohorts that reflect the diversity and unique perspectives of the community. Training Implementation and Facilitation ● Coordinate training logistics, including location, scheduling, registration, materials, and technology setup for seamless program delivery. ● Deliver VHJ training sessions, workshops, and learning activities tailored to the needs of coalition members, housing advocates, and individuals with lived experience. ● Collaborate with VHJ alumni and subject matter experts to enhance and co-facilitate program content and training delivery ● Facilitate translation of VHJ curriculum and partner with multilingual organizations and groups for VHJ training sessions in languages other than English. Operations & Evaluation ● Develop training budget, ensuring cost-effective delivery while maximizing impact ● Measure the effectiveness of training programs through participant feedback, assessments, and advocacy outcomes. ● Use data insights to refine and improve VHJ program and develop reports to coalition leadership on participation, progress, and the impact of training efforts. QUALIFICATIONS ● Demonstrated commitmentto racial equity and justice, with a deep understanding of systemic barriers impacting housing access. ● Experience in curriculum development, training, and facilitation, with experience in community organizing and housing advocacy a plus ● Experience in political advocacy, including engaging in legislative processes, policy analysis, and providing public testimony ● Proven ability to lead and manage multiple projects effectively, ensuring successful execution. ● Familiarity with the Portland metropolitan region and housing policy landscape, with experience addressing issues like poverty and homelessness. ● Proven organizational abilities and competence in data collection, analysis, and reporting to evaluate program effectiveness. ● Demonstrated ability to manage program budgets responsibly and effectively. ● Excellent relationship-building, public speaking, and communication skills, with the ability to tailor messages to various audiences and foster collaboration with diverse communities. ● Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and as part of a larger team Additional Qualifications: ● Access to personal vehicle and possession of a valid driver’s license; ● Being multilingual is a plus. Compensation: Salaried $55,000 to $65,000 per year, depending on experience Benefits: Compensation includes 13 paid holidays, annual 120 hours of paid time off, up to 80 hours paid sick leave, health & dental benefits premiums 100% paid for employees and dependents, employer paid life insurance as well as short and long term disability insurance, and Employee Assistance Program.
