Senior QA Engineer / SDET Role Overview We are seeking an experienced Senior QA Engineer / SDET on a contract basis. In this critical role, you will be instrumental in guaranteeing the quality and reliability of a high-visibility investor portal. You will be responsible for establishing robust QA processes and driving the testing effort, with a primary focus on building and maintaining a sophisticated test automation framework. Key Responsibilities Automation Strategy: Design, develop, and maintain a scalable and efficient automated test suite using TypeScript/JavaScript. E2E Testing: Build, execute, and debug end-to-end (E2E) web UI tests using Playwright. Process Ownership: Establish and refine QA methodologies, including test planning, risk analysis, and defect management. Collaboration: Work closely with Product Managers and Developers to review requirements, refine acceptance criteria, and ensure comprehensive test coverage. Test Management: Write and manage detailed test cases for functional, regression, and performance testing using tools like qTest or similar platforms. CI/CD Integration: Integrate automated test suites into the CI/CD pipeline (e.g., AWS CodeBuild, CodePipeline) to enable continuous testing. Performance & Monitoring: Conduct web performance testing using tools like Artillery. Monitor application health and performance using Datadog and other observability tools. Utilize Datadog Synthetics or similar tools for synthetic monitoring. Manual & Exploratory Testing: Manually test new features that have not yet been automated to ensure quality prior to production release. Technical Debugging: Use Chrome DevTools and other browser-based tools to debug issues and perform root cause analysis. Required Skills & Qualifications Experience: 6+ years in software quality assurance, with a strong emphasis on web application testing and automation. Core Tech: Expert proficiency in TypeScript / JavaScript. Test Frameworks: Deep, hands-on experience with modern E2E testing frameworks, with a strong preference for Playwright. QA Leadership: Proven experience establishing QA processes and leading the testing strategy for a product or team. Cloud & DevOps: Familiarity with AWS services (CodeBuild, CodePipeline, S3) and experience integrating tests into CI/CD pipelines. API Knowledge: Basic understanding of RESTful APIs and how to test them. Skills: Strong debugging, problem-solving, and root cause analysis skills. Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field. Preferred Qualifications (Nice-to-Haves) Experience in the financial services or FinTech industry. Hands-on experience with Datadog (APM, Synthetics) for monitoring and observability. Familiarity with feature flagging tools like LaunchDarkly.
