Classroom Support Personnel Full-Time | 2026–2027 School Year Washington Episcopal School – Bethesda, Maryland Washington Episcopal School (WES) seeks a full-time Classroom Support Personnel to join our community for the 2026–2027 school year. This role is essential to the daily life of the school and provides direct support to students and teachers across grade levels. Position Overview Classroom Support Personnel serve as a flexible, student-centered presence on campus. They support classroom instruction, step in as a substitute teacher when needed, and supervise students during lunch and recess. This role requires strong communication, adaptability, and a genuine joy for working with children. Key Responsibilities • Substitute for teachers during absences, following lesson plans and maintaining classroom routines. • Support teachers in classrooms by assisting with instruction, small groups, and materials preparation. • Supervise students during lunch, recess, transitions, and other assigned periods. • Coordinate with teachers and division leadership to ensure continuity of learning and classroom management. • Foster a safe, respectful, and inclusive environment that reflects the values and expectations of WES. • Communicate professionally and effectively with faculty, staff, and families as appropriate. Required Qualifications • Bachelor’s degree required. • Demonstrated experience working successfully with children in an educational or youth-focused setting. • Experience interacting professionally and positively with parents and caregivers. Skills & Competencies • Strong classroom management and student supervision skills. • Flexibility and adaptability in a fast-paced school environment. • Clear, respectful, and age-appropriate communication with students. • Ability to collaborate effectively with teachers and school staff. • Sound judgment and the ability to respond calmly and thoughtfully to student needs. • Commitment to equity, inclusion, and supporting the social-emotional development of students. • Reliability, professionalism, and a positive, team-oriented attitude.
