Job Title: Remote Bookkeeper/Accounting Assistant Company Name: West African Gas Pipeline Company (WAGPCO) Location: Remote (US-Based Applicants Only) Job Type: Full-Time About WAGPCO: The West African Gas Pipeline Company (WAGPCO) is a leading energy company that operates the West African Gas Pipeline, providing vital gas infrastructure and services in the region. As we continue to expand our operations, we are looking for a Remote Bookkeeper/Accounting Assistant to join our finance team. This is a remote role, open to US-based applicants only. Job Description: We are seeking a detail-oriented and self-motivated Remote Bookkeeper/Accounting Assistant to support our financial team. You will assist in managing the company’s financial records, processing accounts payable and receivable, reconciling accounts, supporting payroll, and preparing financial reports. This role is ideal for someone with experience in accounting who thrives in a remote work environment and can handle a variety of bookkeeping tasks. Key Responsibilities: Record Financial Transactions: Accurately enter financial transactions into accounting software (QuickBooks, Xero, or Sage), ensuring completeness and accuracy. Accounts Payable & Receivable: Manage accounts payable and receivable, process vendor invoices, track client payments, and follow up on overdue accounts. Bank Reconciliation: Perform monthly bank and credit card reconciliations, ensuring all transactions are accounted for and discrepancies are resolved. Payroll Support: Assist with payroll processing, ensuring timely and accurate payroll for employees while complying with US payroll tax regulations. General Ledger Management: Post journal entries and update the general ledger to maintain accurate financial records. Financial Reporting: Help generate financial reports, including balance sheets, profit and loss statements, and cash flow reports for management review. Tax Preparation: Assist in preparing tax filings, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local tax regulations. Collaboration: Work closely with the finance team and other departments to ensure smooth daily financial operations. Qualifications: Experience: Minimum of 2 years of experience in bookkeeping, accounting, or a related field. Location: Must be based in the United States. This is a remote position. Education: High school diploma required; Associate’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred. Accounting Software: Proficient in QuickBooks, Xero, Sage, or similar accounting tools. Excel Skills: Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel (formulas, data analysis, pivot tables). Attention to Detail: High attention to detail and accuracy in financial recordkeeping. Communication Skills: Strong written and verbal communication skills for effective collaboration in a remote team. Time Management: Ability to manage time effectively, work independently, and meet deadlines. Confidentiality: Ability to handle sensitive financial data with integrity and professionalism. Preferred Qualifications: Certification: QuickBooks certification, AIPB (American Institute of Professional Bookkeepers), or other relevant certifications is a plus. Payroll Experience: Familiarity with payroll processing and US payroll tax laws.
