As a Picker/Packer at Walmart, you play a critical role in the fulfillment process by accurately selecting and packing merchandise for shipping to customers or Walmart stores. Working in a fast-paced environment, you use handheld devices and picking equipment to locate, retrieve, and package items according to customer orders or store requirements. Key Responsibilities: • Order Picking: Use handheld devices or picking lists to locate and select merchandise from designated storage locations within the warehouse. Navigate through aisles and storage racks to retrieve items efficiently, ensuring accuracy and completeness of each order. Verify product details, quantities, and quality before packing to ensure customer satisfaction. • Product Packaging: Pack merchandise securely and appropriately for shipping, using packaging materials such as boxes, bubble wrap, and packing peanuts. Label packages with shipping information, barcodes, and tracking numbers. Ensure that packages are sealed properly to prevent damage during transit. • Quality Control: Inspect merchandise for any defects, damages, or discrepancies before packing, and report any issues to supervisors. Follow quality control procedures to maintain high standards of product quality and customer satisfaction. Handle fragile or delicate items with care to prevent breakage or damage during packing and shipping. • Inventory Management: Update inventory records in the warehouse management system to reflect items picked and packed for shipment. Communicate any inventory discrepancies or shortages to supervisors for resolution. Assist in conducting regular cycle counts and inventory audits to maintain accurate inventory levels. • Safety and Compliance: Adhere to safety protocols and guidelines to prevent accidents and injuries in the warehouse. Operate picking equipment and machinery safely and responsibly. Follow company policies and procedures regarding workplace safety, security, and regulatory compliance. • Team Collaboration: Work collaboratively with other warehouse associates and team members to achieve daily picking and packing targets. Communicate effectively with supervisors and managers to coordinate tasks, resolve issues, and ensure efficient workflow. This role requires attention to detail, efficiency, and commitment to quality to ensure orders are fulfilled accurately and promptly. The ideal candidate will have strong organizational and time management skills, ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment, and physical agility to bend, stoop, reach, and stand for extended periods.
