Wallace Montgomery is seeking a Highways/Roadway design engineer, with at least 5 years of professional experience, to work in our Fairfax or Richmond, Virginia office. This individual will be exposed to a variety of project types, providing opportunities for personal and professional growth. The Design Engineer III will work on complex projects, mentor junior engineers, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality solutions. Primary Functions • Prepare engineering design, studies and reports. • Determine / reviews appropriate application of technical methods of the work and verify compliance with criteria. • Participate / Reviews the development of engineering design details, specifications, contract drawings and estimates. • Prepare construction contract documents including final design details, construction drawings, specifications and estimates. • Participate in presentations such as public meetings. • Monitor current design trends/methodologies related to their area of expertise. • Assist in training new employees in using CADD software. • Client contact on a limited basis. • Field work as team member for inspections and research for projects. • Other duties as assigned Qualifications Qualifications • Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering Degree or related field • Professional Engineer License required (VA preferred) • Experience developing 3D engineered models in Bentley Open Roads Designer (ORD) is desired but not required. • 5-10 years Design Experience
