Senior Geologist (Operations) Walker Elliott team is working with a fast-growing private upstream oil & gas company in Houston, TX, and client is looking to hire Senior Operations Geologist. They operate lean and move fast - delivering results with a tight, highly skilled team. Their VP of Geoscience is looking to add a Geologist to support our horizontal exploration and development programs. This is full time position and in-office role. Responsibilities: • Track daily drilling progress and contribute to informed casing point decisions. • Support the full lifecycle of horizontal wells — from upfront planning to execution oversight and end-of-well evaluations. • Partner with geosteering teams to guide well path adjustments and keep the wellbore in the optimal target zone. • Contribute geological insights in both independent project work and integrated team settings. Requirements: • Degreed • 5+ years of geological experience within the upstream oil & gas sector, MUST. • Hands-on exposure to U.S. unconventional basins and horizontal development. • Proficiency in log analysis, petrophysics, and geological interpretation workflows. • Working knowledge of geological/mapping tools such as Petra or SMT Kingdom. • Practical experience geosteering horizontal wells using StarSteer. • Clear communication skills and the ability to produce organized, professional geological deliverables.
