The Role: Vote.org is seeking a Software Engineer proficient in full-stack Ruby on Rails development to join our product engineering team and contribute to the development and maintenance of our suite of online voting tools. These tools help tens of millions of people register to vote, understand what is on their ballot, and obtain critical election information every election cycle. You will be part of a dynamic, agile team reporting to our Chief Technology Officer and playing a key role in evolving our critical election infrastructure, performing at a high level, and strengthening our democracy. What Youll Do: • Develop software for our voter-facing applications and internal tools • Produce high-quality code that is scalable, secure, and incorporates tests • Ensure production systems are always available and functioning properly • Participate in a flexible, rotating on-call product support schedule • Create technical and process documentation • Participate in team standups, backlog management, code reviews and retrospectives • Participate in improving and optimizing our technical processes and best practices • Support staff and partners across the organization in understanding and using our technology What Youll Bring to the Table: • Ruby on Rails engineering experience • Rspec testing experience • Programming expertise using third-party APIs • Relational database/SQL programming experience • Development experience using a CI/CD platform • Comfort using a shared version control platform • Strong team collaboration skills • A proactive approach to problem solving, • Comfort wearing multiple hats on a small, often busy team Desired Qualifications: • Amazon Web Services (AWS) development • Heroku development • Redis • Gatsby CMS • A CS degree or equivalent work experience Vote.org values transparency and strives to provide as much information regarding compensation as possible. The complete salary range for this role is $90,000-$95,000. We determine pay based on several factors, including but not limited to job-related skills, qualifications, experience, education, internal equity, and other factors relevant to the job.
