The Grant Writer will support fund development, analytics, and communication efforts which advance National Able Network's mission and strategic goals. The successful candidate will assist the Marketing and Development department in various aspects of grant writing, fundraising, and analytics. The Marketing & Development department is a fast-paced, multi-dimensional environment with excellent opportunities for professional growth and advancement. Responsibilities: With the Vice President, Marketing & Development, the Grant Writer will oversee prospecting, research, facilitation of stakeholder meetings, prose development, assembly of grant proposal packages, editing, and submittal of grant proposals in support of annual goals and strategic plan. Grant proposal development requires the following: • Familiarity and experience with planning and developing grant proposals to private and public funding sources • Strong research skills both from public data sources and from mining internal databases • Assembling research into prose and accompanying presentation materials for target audiences • Writing and assembling and/or assisting with writing and assembling grant proposals to private sources (i.e. foundations and corporations) • Managing the development of grant proposals to government funding sources • Facilitating planning sessions with stakeholders—both internal and external • Conducting prospect research around new funding sources • Contributing to the development of the annual strategic fundraising plan • Development and maintenance of funder and donor relationships • Assuring all proposal submittal deadlines are met, in part by employing strong project management skills • Serving as an editor to team members • Assisting with fundraising events and campaigns (Planning, executing, donor cultivation, budgeting, etc.) • Analyzing and/or mining internal databases for information to include in grant proposals and other communications • Contributing to major projects involving analytics, research, communications, and fundraising, among others as needed Minimum Qualifications: • Must possess exceptional writing skills in a number of lengths and formats • 2 to 3 years of professional experience at a non-profit organization or a for-profit setting • Must be able to work with diverse teams to gather information critical to grant writing success • Excellent research and information-gathering skills • Extremely detail and deadline-orientated • High-level proficiency with Microsoft Office applications including: Outlook, Word, Excel, SharePoint, PowerPoint, etc. • Willingness and means to occasionally travel throughout Chicagoland area to attend meetings • Prior experience working in an employment-related or workforce or economic development setting preferred • Undergraduate degree required.
