Vice President of Operations In-Person, South San Francisco, CA Full Time | $200K-$250K / year | Company Size: 10-20 employees Vitra Labs is a venture-backed startup in the women’s health space. Our mission is to make fertility care safe, effective, and accessible through hormone-free IVF. Summary: We are seeking a highly organized and adaptable Vice President of Operations to serve as a central operational hub for the company. This individual will oversee key processes, coordinate cross-functional initiatives, and ensure that budgets and timelines stay aligned with company priorities. They will serve as a connective force between leadership and teams, enabling clarity, accountability, and progress across R&D and corporate functions. The ideal candidate combines strategic judgment with operational excellence — capable of both zooming out to support company planning and diving in to ensure smooth day-to-day execution in a fast-paced, high-growth environment. Tasks are complex and require taking initiative, a strong ability to influence, and advanced organizational, project management, and leadership skills. Responsibilities: · Drive strategic decisions to streamline company operations, optimizing workflows and resource allocation to support efficient execution of cross-functional initiatives. · Interface with clinical operations to align strategic priorities, ensuring readiness for clinical studies in both U.S. and international markets. · Manage company finances, including budget tracking and burn rate oversight, to support informed decision-making and fiscal discipline. · Have full accountability and oversight in outsourced operations across accounting/tax, IT, HR, legal/contracting, and related administrative functions, ensuring effective coordination and accountability of external partners. · Provide project management support to project leads and executives as needed, driving clarity, progress, and cross-functional coordination on key initiatives. Proactively identify and surface risks or gaps by asking clarifying questions and digging into project details. · Contribute to preparation of executive materials (board meeting slides, data room, etc.), participate in investor meetings when needed. · Manage meetings, including agenda preparation, meeting facilitation, and documentation. Qualifications: · Bachelor’s degree (life sciences field is preferred). · 10-15+ years of relevant experience working in operations or strategic planning in the biotech, pharma, or medical device industry. Experience in a project management capacity (either internally or at a consulting firm) is also preferred. · Demonstrated ability to design, implement, and improve company-wide processes. Autonomy in judgment in decision-making and project management, and strong understanding of cross-functional collaboration (able to work fluidly across scientific, clinical, and business teams). · Excellent verbal and communication skills. · Comfortable navigating through ambiguity, and quick at understanding/learning new technologies and skills.
