Description The Village of Villa Park is in search of a qualified candidate to serve as a Financial Specialist in the Finance Department. This position is an entry-level accounting position providing bookkeeping and administrative support to residents and members of the public. The Financial Specialist reports directly to the Accounting Manager, while also working closely with Finance and other departmental staff. Examples Of Duties The following are some of the typical responsibilities the Financial Specialist may be required to perform. Note that this position may not perform all of the listed duties and/or may be required to perform additional duties in order to address the changing financial needs of the Village. • Assist with day-to-day financial transactions, including verifying, classifying, and recording accounts payable and receivable data. • Respond to and interact with vendors, citizens, and Village staff in a professional manner. • Oversee all resident inquiries and customer service support via telephone, walk-ins, or electronic notification. • Ability to prepare spreadsheets and reports, and handle cash with minimal supervision. • Validate adherence to Village purchasing policies and processes and enter data into the Village’s accounting software. • Prepare batches of invoices for payment. • Processes all raffle licenses, vending licenses, and amusement event licenses. • Oversees places of eating tax payments. • Assists with the preparation of water bill payments for commercial and residential customers. • Process applications and invoicing for subsidized taxi voucher program. • Monitor and reconcile online payment processing. • Accept and process public works and police daily revenue packets. • Maintain updated vendor files and file numbers. • Oversee Finance Department filing and records retention. • Balance Public Works permit bond payments. • Performs all other duties as assigned by the Accounting Manager. Qualifications • Strong interpersonal communication skills for interaction with co-workers and the public. • Minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent • Basic bookkeeping or entry-level accounting experience preferred • Minimum of four (4) years of experience in an office environment • Proficient in Microsoft Suite • Experience with BS&A financial management package is a plus Salary And Benefits • $30.39 hourly in accordance with paygrade (9) of the AFSCME contract. • Competitive package of benefits to include medical, dental, prescription, vision, wellness incentives, life insurance, retirement pension plan with Illinois Municipal Retirement Fund, and other retirement savings options.
