The Role & What You Will Be Doing As a key member of the Global Communications and Corporate Brand team, the Director, Global Operations and Portfolio Communications will lead the development and execution of communications supporting the Global Quality Organization and Global Supply Organization. This individual will help the organization continue to champion a culture of quality at operations sites and deliver communications that inspire, connect, and reinforce the critical role these functions play in Viatris’ success. This individual will also work across the Global R&D Organization and Global Commercial Organization on communications that elevate visibility of the company’s portfolio and ensure consistent, compelling narratives that reinforce Viatris’ science, innovation, and patient impact, while driving engagement internally and externally. This person reports to the Head of Global Commercial, R&D and Operations Communications. Key responsibilities for this role include: Drive Strategic Operations and Portfolio Communications: Develop and execute communication strategies that promote a culture of quality, safety, compliance, and customer service across global operations. Develop and execute communication strategies that articulate the value of Viatris’ portfolio that spans generics, established brands and innovative brands. Develop Executive & Leader Communications: Support executive and senior leaders across Operations, Quality, R&D and Commercial with communications strategies to drive engagement, visibility and connection with colleagues. Equip leaders with tools and messaging to foster alignment and build awareness and understanding of Viatris’ strategy. Enhance Employee Engagement & Communication Effectiveness: Bring together key communicators across our Operations, R&D and Commercial network to drive employee engagement and promote knowledge and best practice sharing to enhance communications efforts. Lead Change & Organizational Communications: Provide strategic counsel and develop communications to support organizational announcements, restructuring activities, transformation initiatives, divestitures and integrations impacting Operations, Quality, Commercial and R&D. Prepare for and Manage Issues: Proactively prepare for known issues to mitigate impact and continue to refine issues management response strategy. Provide prompt and appropriate internal/external communications support in the event of a crisis, working with operations leaders and Global Communications and Corporate Brand and Corporate Affairs. Support External Communications and Visibility: Assist with background for media inquiries. Stay informed of industry news, advise how it could impact communications internally and externally. Support reputation-building efforts that increase visibility and understanding of the company’s portfolio, pipeline and expertise in key therapeutic areas and commercial, operations and R&D capabilities. Support key investor relations communications activities. Measure Impact & Drive Continuous Improvement: Use metrics and analytics to assess communications effectiveness, apply insights to improve efforts and support decision-making. Collaborate & Align Globally: Serve as a collaborative partner with Global Communications and Corporate Brand, Corporate Affairs, Quality, Operations, Commercial and R&D teams. Ensure consistency with brand standards and adherence to the evolving corporate narrative through external communications review process and other avenues. Travel, as needed, to foster relationships and enhance understanding of operations sites globally. Champion Culture & Corporate Values: Promote Viatris’ values, ethical standards, and commitment to quality and compliance in all communications efforts. Inspire creative, proactive communication thinking across the team. The minimum qualifications for this role are: A bachelor’s or master’s degree in communication or related discipline is preferred. 8-10+ years of communications experience within the pharmaceutical industry is required. Ability to translate complex scientific and commercial concepts into clear, compelling narratives. Proven ability to lead communications around sensitive matters. Strong collaborator and relationship builder, able to influence and connect effectively across all levels and functions. Skilled at identifying operational efficiencies and applying communications best practices. Strong stakeholder management with internal cross-functional teams and external stakeholders. Ability to operate in a fast-paced and complex environment. Exact compensation may vary based on skills, experience, and location. The salary range for this position is $112,000 - $236,000.
