What you'll do The Configuration Data Manager leads the team responsible for Configuration Data Management (CDM) within the Commercial organization, coordinating program implementation and resolving any obstacles that may occur. This role ensures data integrity, traceability, and effective change control throughout the product lifecycle while aligning practices with company standards and customer requirements. Provide team leadership, collaborate across functions, drive CDM improvements in Commercial, receive mentorship from Director. The day-to-day Lead and oversee the CDM team providing supervision, mentoring, and performance management. Ensure consistent execution of configuration identification, change control, data management, status accounting, and audit readiness activities across assigned programs. Translate program and organization objectives into actionable plans, allocate resources, and hold staff accountable for results. Support program execution while also addressing customer and partner concerns across programs, offering mentorship to resolve issues and maintain continuity. Represent the CDM function with professionalism to program leadership, auditors, customers, and other partners. Ensure compliance with applicable standards and regulations including AS9100, EIA-649, ISO-9001, ITAR/EAR, and FAA requirements. Oversee and administer PLM/PDM systems, ensuring accuracy of data entry, traceability, reporting, and digitial thread continuity. Monitor process performance and recommend improvements to enhance efficiency, effectiveness, and data integrity. Collaborate with engineering, quality, operations, and program leadership to align on CDM practices and maintain configuration control. Prepare and deliver reports, metrics, and status updates on CDM activities to leadership. What you'll need Bachelor’s degree in engineering, business, or a related field preferred. 5+ years of experience in configuration management or related disciplines, with at least 3 years in a supervisory role managing professional staff, with direct experience in conflict resolution and team development. Strong working knowledge of CM standards (e.g., AS9100, EIA-649) and lifecycle practices across hardware, software, and systems domains. Proven ability to manage CDM processes within programs while also resolving cross-program escalations. Strong analytical and problem solving skills, with the ability to implement effective solutions ensuring program and contractual compliance. Proficiency in Product Lifecycle Management (PLM/PDM) systems with a focus on data accuracy, traceability, and reporting. Strong communication and collaboration skills to influence alignment across engineering, quality, operations and program leadership. US citizenship is required. This is a US remote opportunity. What will help you on the job CM 2 or CMPIC certification preferred. Demonstrated ability to supervise, mentor, and develop a team of professionals. Salary range $101,500.00 - $161,000.00 / annually. For specific work locations within San Jose, the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, the base pay range for this role is $126,500.00- $189,500.00/ annually At Viasat, we consider many factors when it comes to compensation, including the scope of the position as well as your background and experience.
