The Software Developer will design, develop, enhance, and maintain software components for CMOP automation and integration activities. They will collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams to deliver new capabilities and maintain system uptime, compliance, and performance.
Candidates must have a bachelor's degree in a technical field and at least 5 years of professional software development experience, preferably in regulated environments. Proficiency in various programming languages and technologies, including C#, .NET, and SQL, is required.
We are currently looking for a Software Developer for a 100% remote position on a large federal government project supporting the Department of Veterans Affairs Consolidated Mail Outpatient Pharmacy (CMOP) SEM IS initiative. This role will help enhance CMOP’s high-volume pharmacy automation systems, modernize legacy components, and support mission-critical software used to process prescriptions nationwide. The work involves close collaboration with analysts, testers, production support teams, and external partners within an Agile, fast-paced, federally regulated environment. The candidate must reside within the continental US. Responsibilities Design, develop, enhance, and maintain software components that support CMOP automation and integration activities. Build secure, scalable applications using .NET technologies, C#, REST APIs, and SQL, while supporting updates and sustainment for legacy components. Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams to deliver new capabilities and maintain system uptime, compliance, and performance. Participate in Agile development cycles using Azure DevOps, AWS, Git, CI/CD pipelines, and modern development practices. Troubleshoot and resolve production issues, refactor existing code, and conduct code reviews to maintain high code quality. Implement unit testing, maintain documentation throughout the SDLC, and follow secure coding standards in a regulated environment. Support integration activities across Windows, Linux, Docker, Kubernetes, and cloud environments. Take on additional tasks and responsibilities as needed to support team objectives and ensure the success of the project. Requirements Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field. 5+ years of professional software development experience, ideally within regulated, healthcare, or federal project environments. Proficiency in C#, .NET (Core, MAUI, Blazor, WPF, WinForms), C++, Python, SQL, and REST API development. Experience working with Azure DevOps, AWS, Git, Jenkins, Docker, Kubernetes, and CI/CD pipelines. Ability to build, maintain, and troubleshoot distributed systems and cross-platform applications. Strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills with the ability to work effectively in Agile environments. Commitment to producing high-quality, secure, and well-documented software. Additional Qualifications Experience supporting VA systems or other federal healthcare programs is preferred. Experience with embedded systems, Windows Embedded, Linux, or IoT-enabled platforms is beneficial. Certifications or coursework in AI/ML, cloud, cybersecurity, or Python development are a plus.
