We are currently looking for a Data Developer / Architect for a 100% remote position supporting the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) Health Connect program. This role will design, build, and optimize data systems and solutions that enable data-driven decision-making and operational efficiency. The selected candidate will architect robust data pipelines, integrate diverse data sources, and ensure the scalability, security, and reliability of VA Health Connect’s data platforms. The candidate must reside within the continental US. Responsibilities: Design, develop, and maintain scalable data architectures and pipelines to support clinical and operational data needs. Integrate data from multiple healthcare and contact center systems, ensuring seamless data flow and interoperability. Build and optimize ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) processes for efficient data ingestion, transformation, and storage. Develop and maintain databases, data warehouses, and data lakes to ensure data integrity, security, and performance. Implement data governance, quality assurance, and compliance standards across all data platforms. Collaborate with analysts and business stakeholders to define data requirements and deliver solutions that enable analytics and reporting. Develop and deploy APIs and data services to enable secure access to data assets. Monitor, troubleshoot, and resolve data-related issues while identifying opportunities for system optimization. Document data architecture, data flows, and technical specifications. Contribute to team objectives and take on additional responsibilities as needed. Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Engineering, or a related field. 5–10 years of experience in data architecture, data engineering, or database development. Strong experience with relational and non-relational databases (e.g., SQL Server, PostgreSQL, MongoDB). Proficiency in data pipeline development using tools such as SQL, Python, Spark, or ETL frameworks (e.g., Azure Data Factory, Databricks, or similar) Experience with cloud data platforms (e.g., Azure) and data warehousing solutions. Knowledge of data modeling, data integration, and API development. Familiarity with data governance, security, and compliance standards in healthcare or regulated environments. Excellent problem-solving, organizational, and multitasking skills. Strong verbal and written communication abilities, including technical documentation. Additional Qualifications: Master’s degree or equivalent experience in Data Engineering, Computer Science, Health Informatics, or a related discipline. Experience in consulting, technology, or professional services environments. Familiarity with big data technologies (e.g., Spark, Hadoop, Kafka) and advanced analytics platforms. Experience with data visualization tools such as Power BI or Tableau. Knowledge of healthcare data standards (e.g., HL7, FHIR) or VistA/HealthShare integration Experience supporting federal healthcare initiatives or VA programs.
