Headquartered in Hamden, CT and operating 100% remotely, Vertrax is a leading provider of innovative, cloud-based, supply chain and distribution management solutions for the downstream oil and gas industry. Position Summary Built on the Acumatica ERP platform and integrated with our Smartdrops delivery system, Vertrax Energy is our flagship, cloud-based ERP solution for the downstream oil and gas industry. We are seeking a Business Analyst with proven experience in Acumatica Financials (or similar ERP) — and a strong understanding of, or willingness to learn, the fuel distribution industry. The Business Analyst will act as the bridge between the customer and developers, leading client discovery sessions, defining business and user requirements, configuring workflows, creating detailed technical requirements and mockups, and supporting full-cycle ERP implementation. This role combines deep financial acumen, strong systems analysis skills, and the ability to translate complex business needs into clear, actionable solutions within Acumatica. Key Responsibilities ● Conduct discovery sessions with clients to understand current business processes, systems, and pain points. ● Partner with Finance, Accounting, and Operations to translate requirements into optimized Acumatica configurations, workflows, and reports. ● Configure and support Acumatica Financial modules (GL, AP, AR, Cash Management, Fixed Assets, Project Accounting). ● Support integrations between Acumatica and industry-specific systems such as dispatch, delivery, inventory, and tank monitoring platforms. ● Analyze and document fuel pricing, tax management (e.g., excise tax), and inventory workflows to ensure data accuracy and operational efficiency. ● Develop financial dashboards, reports, and KPIs focused on profitability, margin analysis, and delivery performance. ● Work closely with developers to translate business and functional requirements into clear, actionable technical user stories with defined acceptance criteria, process flows, and mockups/wireframes. ● Collaborate with developers, QA, and Acumatica partners to ensure accurate, testable, and high-quality software delivery. ● Coordinate User Acceptance Testing (UAT), develop training materials, and conduct user training sessions. ● Document current and future-state processes to drive continuous improvement and maintain compliance with accounting standards. ● Conduct presentations and provide software demos to customers as needed. ● Provide post-go-live support, troubleshooting, and configuration assistance to ensure customer success. Qualifications ● Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, Information Technology, or a related field. ● 3–5+ years of experience as a Business Analyst or ERP Functional Consultant, preferably with Acumatica or a similar ERP. ● 3+ years of experience translating business and functional requirements into clear, actionable technical user stories with defined acceptance criteria, process flows, and mockups/wireframes. ● Strong understanding of accounting principles, tax compliance, and financial reporting. ● Demonstrated experience implementing and supporting ERP financial workflows, ideally in the fuel distribution or energy sector. ● Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and documentation skills. ● Exceptional communication and presentation skills with the ability to interact across technical and business teams. ● Ability to successfully work in a remote environment between 8am–5pm ET and manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment. ● Must possess strong communication skills and proven success in thriving in a fast-paced, cross functional environment. Preferred ● Acumatica certification (Business Consultant or Financials Specialist). ● Experience integrating Acumatica with dispatch or delivery systems (e.g., SkyBitz, Vertrax Energy, PDI). ● Familiarity with fuel pricing, freight management, and multi-entity financial consolidation. ● Experience working in Agile development teams using Jira, Confluence, and wireframing tools (e.g., Moqups). ● Knowledge of BI/reporting tools such as Power BI or Tableau.
