Job Description: JOB SUMMARY: We are seeking a seasoned SAP Software Developer III to join our SAP Solutions team. In this role, you will design, develop, and maintain Vertex products and connectors that seamlessly integrate with SAP systems. The ideal candidate brings deep expertise in SAP technologies, exceptional programming skills, and a proven track record of delivering secure, scalable, and high-performance solutions. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Architect, design, develop, and unit test SAP solutions (ABAP, Fiori/UI5, BTP) ensuring the highest quality, security, and compliance with SAP authorization standards to prevent unauthorized access. Implement, test, maintain, and support SAP applications and integrations based on approved technical design specifications and SAP development guidelines. Prepare detailed technical design specifications derived from functional requirements and business process analysis across SAP modules and BTP services. Review functional requirements and technical designs to ensure fit-to-standard, maintainability, and performance optimization. Lead the triage and resolution of complex internal and customer issues, performing root cause analysis, implementing fixes, and ensuring timely restoration of service while maintaining high customer satisfaction. Perform ongoing security maintenance and general product upkeep, including applying SAP Notes, implementing patches, monitoring for vulnerabilities, and ensuring compliance with security standards and best practices. Work independently to plan, prioritize, and deliver complex, business-critical SAP development tasks as part of agile project teams. Participate in and lead architecture and code reviews enforcing development standards, ATC checks, and security best practices. Promote continuous improvement by identifying inefficiencies in development processes and implementing automation or quality enhancements. Lead or contribute to SAP projects including upgrades, rollouts, integrations, and cloud enablement initiatives. Provide guidance and mentorship to junior SAP developers on best practices, tools, and methodologies. Maintain and update Jira stories for clarity and accuracy, ensuring requirements, technical details, and status are current and well-documented to support smooth development and collaboration. Participate in all status meetings and internal planning sessions, ensuring cross-functional understanding and release readiness. Operate under minimal supervision with full accountability for technical decisions within SAP governance frameworks. Occasional travel required for workshops, UAT, and go-live support. Participate in additional SAP-related projects or duties as assigned. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Core SAP Skills SAP Integration Technologies Expertise in SAP Cloud Integration (CPI) and SAP Process Orchestration (PI/PO) for building and managing integration flows. Strong knowledge of IDoc, RFC, BAPI, and ALE for SAP-to-SAP and SAP-to-non-SAP communication. Experience with OData services, REST/SOAP APIs, and API Management on SAP BTP. SAP Business Technology Platform (BTP) Familiarity with SAP BTP Integration Suite, Event Mesh, and Workflow Management. Understanding of CAP (Cloud Application Programming Model) for building extensions and services. SAP Development Skills Proficiency in ABAP for backend development and enhancements. Experience with SAP UI5/Fiori for front-end development when needed for integration scenarios. Experience in SAP SD, MM and/or FI modules. Security & Compliance Knowledge of SAP authorization concepts (roles, PFCG, SU24) and secure integration practices (OAuth, JWT). Ability to apply SAP Notes, patches, and security updates for connectors and integration components. Monitoring & Troubleshooting Hands-on experience with SAP tools like SLG1 (Application Log), ST22 (Dump Analysis), SMQ2 (Queue Monitoring), and Message Monitoring in CPI/PI. Performance & Quality Familiarity with ATC checks, Code Inspector, and performance tuning for integration flows and ABAP code. Experience implementing unit tests and test-driven development for SAP integration components. Pay Transparency Statement: US Base Salary Range: $120,700.00 - $156,900.00 Base pay offered to new hires may vary based upon factors including relevant industry and job-related skills and experience, geographic location, and business needs.* The range displayed does not encompass the full potential of the role, which allows for further growth and career progression. In addition, as a part of our total compensation package, this role may be eligible for the Vertex Bonus Plan (VOB), a role-specific sales commission/bonus, and/or equity grants.
