Note: The job is a remote job and is open to candidates in USA. Verbit.ai is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Senior Backend Engineer (Python) to join their Streaming engineering team. The role involves building and evolving a modular, high-scale real-time transcription platform, focusing on backend engineering, real-time systems, and cloud-native architecture. Responsibilities • Build and evolve Python backend services for real-time transcription • Design and maintain low-latency systems that process, enrich, and route live audio and transcription data • Work with multiple connection methods, from browser clients to professional broadcast protocols and hardware encoders • Own services end to end, from design to production • Collaborate closely with Product, Research, Data Science, and Engineering • Leverage AI-assisted development tools to improve delivery speed and code quality Skills • 5+ years of experience as a backend engineer, with strong focus on Python • Solid experience building production-grade Python services • Experience designing and operating scalable, distributed systems in cloud environments (AWS preferred) • Hands-on knowledge of async processing, concurrency, and event-driven architectures • Experience working with real-time data flows and service-to-service APIs • Comfort owning services in production, including monitoring, debugging, and performance tuning • Fluent English, both spoken and written • Experience with real-time audio/video or streaming-related protocols (e.g. WebSockets, RTMP, SRT) • Familiarity with speech, media, or data enrichment pipelines • Experience integrating with hardware or external systems (encoders, SDKs, third-party services) • Practical use of AI-assisted development tools in day-to-day engineering work • Experience working in a remote or distributed team environment Company Overview • Verbit delivers AI transcription and captioning products to the global brands who depend on speed, accuracy, and insights.
