Location: Hybrid (4 days onsite & 1 day remote Blythewood South Carolina 29016) Duration: 12 months contract (with possible extension) Candidate Location: Candidate MUST be a SC resident or willing to relocate to SC prior to starting the role at their own expense. The initial engagement will require fully onsite work with Engineers and Business Specialists in a real-time development and maintenance mode. Regional candidates will be preferred (SC/NC/GA). This will be a hybrid role allowing the candidate the opportunity for partial remote work up to one day a week unless project needs dictate otherwise. Scope of the project: • Employs a multi-tiered architecture in its core business systems. The business application tier utilizes microfocus visual cobol running under iis on ms windows 2022 servers. This assignment will support development of new business functions and troubleshooting, modification, and enhancement of existing functions in this environment within the existing scdmv application framework. Projects may include business logic supporting on-line systems, batch programming, data extraction, and reports involving all scdmv business areas.This engineer will work closely and will be involved with both the ui tiers which are ms .net applications (vb.net, c#.net) and the database tiers in both sql and oracle. Production trouble shooting support will be expected so some level of production support experience is required. This contractor will be expected to work with minimal supervision, will be in direct contact with business area specialists, develop technical approaches and designs, code, test, and support these functions.Communications skills must be excellent. DAILY DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES: • Analyze the phoenix ii, web service, and batch business applications • Take the lead in analyzing and trouble-shooting assigned system problems • Propose solutions • Code, test, promote, and interact with impacted users ensuring that solution meets requirements. • Provide daily and weekly status to the development manager. Required Skills (rank in order of Importance): • 8+ Years of Development with Microfocus Visual COBOL in Windows Server 2019/2022, batch and under IIS. • 4+ Years Experience with Visual Studio 2019/2022 including the ability to use the debugger • 4+ Years of Application programming against RDBMS (Oracle, SQL). • Bachelor's degree in IT, OR related discipline with 8 years of experience or minimum 10 years related experience without degree Preferred Skills (rank in order of Importance): • Experience with MICROFOCUS COBOL Version 7 and higher • Ability to write complex queries using SQL for Oracle and MS SQL DB. • IIS Configuration/Setup • Skilled in C# and .NET • Microsoft Certification - please indicate specific certificate on resume • Microfocus Certification - please indicate specific certificate on resume Required education: • Prefer bachelor's degree in information technology related discipline with 8 years of experience or minimum 10 years related experience.
