Transmission and Distribution (T&D) Designer About the Role We are seeking a Transmission and Distribution Designer to design, develop, and support the operation of power transmission and distribution systems. This role will focus on ensuring safe, reliable, and efficient delivery of electricity through substations, overhead and underground lines, and related infrastructure. Key Responsibilities Design, plan, and oversee T&D projects including substations, transmission lines, and distribution systems. Conduct system studies (load flow, short circuit, protection coordination) to ensure reliability and compliance. Prepare engineering drawings, specifications, and cost estimates. Collaborate with utility partners, contractors, and internal teams on project execution. Ensure compliance with NESC, IEEE, and applicable regulatory standards. Support commissioning, testing, and troubleshooting of T&D systems. Provide technical expertise for upgrades, expansions, and system resilience initiatives. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering Experience in transmission and/or distribution engineering. Proficiency with PLS-CADD, CYME, ETAP, or similar tools. Strong knowledge of utility standards, codes, and industry best practices. Excellent problem-solving, project management, and communication skills. Physical Requirements Ability to occasionally lift and carry up to 25 pounds of equipment or materials. Willingness to work in both office and field environments, including substations, construction sites, and outdoor conditions. Ability to stand, walk, or climb for extended periods when visiting project sites. Comfortable working at heights or in confined spaces as required by project needs. Must have a valid driver’s license and be able to travel to project locations.
