Organization: TX Organ Proc and Presv Job Summary: Job Description Summary This transplant coordinator position supports review of organ donor offers for patients on the transplant waiting list, and facilitate transplant case coordination with internal and external resources, including coordination of air and ground transportation for organ recovery teams, data collection, and case documentation. Preferred Education, Skills, and Experiences: Experience as a hospital or organ Procurement Organization donor coordinator, or critical care nursing experience preferred. This position will offer but not limited to the following: Flexible scheduling, remote work opportunity, working with some of the largest transplant programs in the country. . KEY RESPONSIBILITIES • Review organ donor offers for Adult and Pediatric Heart Transplant Programs, and Lung Transplant Program - Communicate with surgeons and other Organ Recovery Team Members -Collaborate with inpatient and outpatient teams to coordinate transplant case -Collaborate with ground and aviation companies to coordinate team travel for organ recovery - Collaborate with local and national Organ Procurement Organizations -Follow to CMS and UNOS guidelines regarding donor selection TECHNICAL CAPABILITIES • Transplant Coordination (Intermediate): Demonstrates mastery of transplant coordination in practical applications of a difficult nature. Possesses sufficient knowledge, training, and experience to be capable of successfully delivering coordination services without requiring support and instruction from others. Possess sufficient knowledge to provide interventions that maintain or improve physiology, psychological and social health and interventions that facilitate and optimize behavioral changes and treatment adherence with complex, lifelong therapies. Advocates supporting patients and families in planning, implementation and evaluation of care. Able to train and educate by setting the example, giving technical instruction, providing leadership, and generally raising the level of performance of others while on the job. • Nursing Patient Assessment & Evaluation (Intermediate): Demonstrates mastery of patient assessments and evaluations in practical applications of a difficult nature. Conducts primary care patient interviews and physical examinations. Conducts inquiry with a thorough series of questions when patients state an ailment or complaint in order to accurately identify and elaborate on the problem. Possesses sufficient knowledge, training, and experience to role model and coach less experienced peers. • Nursing Patient Education (Intermediate): Demonstrates mastery of patient education in practical applications of a difficult nature. Possesses sufficient knowledge, training, and experience to be capable of providing patient health education services without requiring instruction from others. Able to train and educate by setting the example, giving technical instruction, providing leadership, and generally raising the level of performance of others while on the job.
