Organization: VICTR Job Summary: Independently manages biomedical research projects and analyses for a diverse portfolio of evidence-based clinical and/or translational initiatives. Interfaces and collaborates extensively with Principal Investigators and other appropriate health sciences departments to maximize information sharing around progress, needs, interdependencies and/or accomplishments. Independently coordinates activities of best practice maintenance, clinician and investigator guidance documentation and engagement, gap analyses, project team, project development and timeline management, special projects, quality control of deliverables, and standardization of processes toward more effective and efficient operations. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Plans, develops, leads and executes mid- to high-level institutional and national projects, and meets established goals and objectives in collaboration with the Principal Investigator. Identifies appropriate resources needed and curates scientific evidence. Performs data collection, analysis, and interpretation to update current processes. Facilitates and/or oversees the proper level of regulatory compliance for each study, preparing quality-related documentation and addressing quality-related findings. Provides mentorship and acts as a "go-to" resource for internal and external colleagues with less experience. Exhibits excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills in collaborating with internal and external customers. Participates in presentations at scientific conferences, steering committee meetings, or other scientific meetings as needed by the Principal Investigator and project. TECHNICAL CAPABILITIES PROJECT PLANNING AND DEVELOPMENT (ADVANCED) Demonstrates advanced knowledge in and leads the scientific and operational development of project concepts and plans. Expertly drives collaboration and consensus among large, diverse study teams. Contributes study design considerations for project development and strategically plans long-term project goals. Able to identify all necessary components of a clinical trial, study, or project. Determines sequential vs. parallel tasks and independently initiates next steps to maintain forward progress. Independently develops or leads the development of complex study documents such as protocols, analysis plans, standard operating procedures, and data management plans. Creates and oversees project budgets ensuring that spending stays on track and all financial reporting requirements are met. Responsible for regulatory compliance across all project domains (IRB, FDA, etc.) PROJECT MANAGEMENT (ADVANCED) Manages multiple complex projects at one time. Creates and maintains effective tracking systems to monitor progress, timelines, and milestones across projects. Anticipates competing priorities and adjusts accordingly to ensure consistency and advancement of all projects. Efficiently and clearly communicates with study teams and project stakeholders. Able to independently lead large, diverse study teams through effective agendas and time management. Identifies and produces meeting materials in line with goals and desired outcomes. Strong critical thinking and risk-management skills to lead complex, dynamic projects. Anticipates and removes barriers. Clearly communicates unforeseen challenges and potential changes to project timelines. Effective implementation and use of project management tools (Gannt chart, RACI matrix, collaboration platforms, etc.) commensurate with project needs. DATA ANALYSIS (ADVANCED) Provides direction for data collection, evaluation and analysis procedures. Works closely with statisticians and data scientists to determine and implement project-appropriate statistical analyses and methods. Oversees and guides data analysis, data QC, and leads data interpretation in collaboration with project statisticians, data scientists, and study principal investigators. Leads development of study databases (e.g. electronic data capture systems for clinical trials). Ensures 1) collection of variables to achieve all study outcomes 2) ease of data entry for database front end users 3) Efficient data export and usability of data for statisticians and data scientists. Evaluates significance of data and reports findings. Clearly communicates key findings to both scientific and lay audiences. PUBLICATION MANAGEMENT (ADVANCED) Able to independently draft and manage a peer reviewed manuscripts through all stages of review and publication. Expertly facilitates team writing through effective outlines, maintaining version control, matching required content with expertise, adhering to timelines, and managing submission requirements. Serves as a lead author and scientist on relevant manuscripts as appropriate. Identifies and presents programmatic publication opportunities for team evaluation and discussion. LEADERSHIP (ADVANCED) Provides advanced project leadership through effective goal setting, delegation, hands-on involvement and communication. Leads large, diverse study teams towards a common goals. Able to oversee multiple projects of different scope and scale at one time. Manages resources and personnel across all projects. Comfortably acts as the “face” of a project. Serves as the lead, outward facing communicator to large networks (50+ people) including executive stakeholders. Manages small teams (3-4) of project managers and coordinators on day-to-day project needs as appropriate.
