Organization: VICTR Job Summary: REMOTE WORK IS AVAILABLE In your pivotal role as an Associate Scientific Research Project Manager, you will provide coordinative programmatic support and manage biomedical research projects for evidence-based clinical and/or translational initiatives by providing support for day-to-day research project plans and activities and monitoring resources and goals across the research portfolio with guidance. You will support the implementation and harmonization of project management processes, standards, tools and best practices. The projects will likely be aligned with the VICTR Center for Learning Healthcare efforts. The Center for Learning Healthcare was established to help close knowledge-practice gaps by integrating scientific discovery and healthcare delivery. The goals of the center are to conduct, support, and innovate methods for rigorous comparative effectiveness research, with an emphasis on pragmatic trials embedded within clinical care. . DEPARTMENT SUMMARY: The Vanderbilt Institute for Clinical & Translational Research (VICTR) is Vanderbilt’s virtual home for clinical and translational research. Supported by Vanderbilt University Medical Center’s Office of Research and the NIH-sponsored Clinical and Translational Service Award (CTSA), the mission of the institute is to transform the way ideas and research discoveries make their way from origin to patient care. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Provides project management support for complex qualitative and quantitative healthcare research projects under guidance, and performs tasks related to the execution and operations of project(s). Utilizes scientific knowledge and quantitative and qualitative research skills to perform a variety of research- and operations-related activities including data management and analysis, report/presentation preparation, and managing project budgets, as well as schedules for proposals and projects. Integrates policy with research by continuously monitoring and reviewing both the research and policy landscapes and suggest course corrections for either or both, if/when necessary. Fosters collaboration between team members, both internal and external to the project team. Maintains communication across project teams. TECHNICAL CAPABILITIES PROJECT PLANNING AND DEVELOPMENT (NOVICE) Demonstrates the ability to use quantitative and qualitative research methods skills to participate in the design, coordination and conduct of research projects. Fosters collaboration between team members, both internal and external to the department. Provides input on the goals and objectives of projects and makes recommendations for improvement based upon outcomes. Serves as a liaison between clinical and research teams for tracking and communication and determining future needs, as well as facilitating the use of VUMC research tools and resources (e.g., Human Research Protection Program, Office of Contracts Management, etc.). Demonstrates the ability to work closely with the department director, project managers and/or principal investigators to ensure projects are completed and are in compliance. Demonstrates awareness in writing Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Manuals of Procedures (MOPs), and ensuring all documentation is compliant. Maintains documentation as needed for projects. DATA MANAGEMENT & ANALYSIS (NOVICE) Demonstrates the ability to use qualitative and quantitative research methods to perform preparatory, regulatory, and analytic tasking within all phases in the life cycle of a study. Assists in reviewing study files and producing queries for teams, as needed. Supports data intake and databases. Assists in compiling, interpreting, and analyzing data, and organizing and generating subsequent reports and/or slide presentations. WRITTEN MATERIALS PREPARATION (NOVICE) Has training in and the ability to draft sections of research proposals, and assist in writing grants, progress reports and protocols. Manages submission deadlines for federal funding opportunities. Assists in the curation of content for reports and grants, as well as preparation of materials for presentations. Organizes and formats data for presentations, publications, and internal use. Creates charts, graphs, and tables to summarize basic analysis results. Manages group requests for specified projects.
