We are hiring! Van Pond Architect, PLLC is seeking a well-rounded Project Manager, Project Architect, or Designer/Architect-in-Training with 5-10+ years experience, and with an enthusiasm for and knowledge/background of residential and light commercial construction means and methods. Ideal candidates are talented design-focused individuals with strong verbal skills, and abilities to express and communicate design in sketches, hand drawing, and digital methods. A desirable candidate is a team player with motivation to contribute talent and expertise working directly with the Principal and Staff in the design and development of custom residential, multifamily, master planning, and private club/hospitality projects. A confident, yet collaborative personality is an absolute must - at VPA we learn and teach one another constantly, and grow our abilities through curiosity and the challenges of design problem-solving. An ideal candidate will be able to demonstrate through interview and portfolio: • A core knowledge of design history and theory applicable to working in a studio that interprets and deploys traditional and contemporary architectural styles in projects. • Hand drawing/sketching talent and capabilities to express design intentions clearly, quickly, and, as needed - elegantly. • A solid understanding of materials and methods of residential and light-commercial construction. • Abilities and experience in code and zoning analysis. • Ability to move between conceptual design and construction documentation design easily. This position will participate in visioning through practical documentation to communicate the design intent to craftspeople. • Abilities as a self-motivating problem solver. • Excellent skills with AutoCAD. • Capability with SketchUp, or familiarity with the application at a level to provide direction and understand the possibilities and limitations of the application to work with others. • Familiarity and some abilities with Adobe Suite applications (Acrobat, InDesign, Photoshop). • Some capabilities in Revit are desirable, but not required. • Experience in Construction Phase Services - either as a lead, or an assistant - is very desirable. • Abilities to combine verbal communication skits to augment graphic expressions of the aspects of design, construction, coordination, and intent of architectural projects. This position is for a Full-Time In-Office Employee. Remote Work is not an option for this position. Office hours are 8:00am-5:00pm Monday-Friday to allow maximum interpersonal collaboration and work-effort coordination efficiency - but flexible-time options for coordination with work/life needs and commitments are possible and open to discussion with an ideal candidate. Compensation is negotiable based on experience, demonstrated abilities, and interview. VPA offers Healthcare Insurance, and a Company-Matched Retirement Plan to all full-time employees. Paid/Earned Sick Leave and Paid/Earned Vacation Leave will be provided as part of the salaried compensation package. Interview inquiries along with vitae and portfolio information may be sent via e-mail to: careers@vanpondarchitect.com or via LinkedIn Messaging and will be responded to within 48 hours of submission. Individual inquiries only, no staffing-service inquiries. Please refrain from phone inquiries.
