Portfolio Associate – Newsletter Lead Location: Montreal and New York City (in-office); other Canadian and U.S. regions (remote) Salary: $85-$120k Valnet’s Screen Portfolio (Screen Rant, Collider, CBR and MovieWeb) is seeking an experienced Newsletter Lead to build, launch and grow a suite of editorially strong, commercially impactful newsletters across the entertainment vertical. Position Overview The Newsletter Portfolio Associate will work closely with the Portfolio Manager and Editorial Leads to optimize the performance of our Screen brands, oversee operations across multiple entertainment sites, and support strategic initiatives that strengthen the Screen portfolio. A key part of this role will be building, managing and monetizing entertainment Newsletters, turning them into a scalable and reliable revenue channel. This role will define editorial direction, establish product infrastructure, drive subscriber growth, monetize through both subscriptions and sponsorships, and oversee the full P&L. Responsibilities: Drive subscriber growth, engagement and churn reduction across all newsletters. Refine strategy based on reactive data, tracking core KPIs (sign-ups, total subs, CTR) and making decisions from clear tests. Manage monetization across free and paid tiers; work with sales to secure sponsorships and operate direct revenue opportunities. Coordinate with editorial leads for content creation and cross-promotion. Provide performance reports and insights to leadership, highlighting wins/risks and recommendations. Develop newsletter templates and new layouts with IT. Ensure end-to-end legal and compliance coverage (GDPR, CAN-SPAM, CASL, sponsorship disclosure, billing, refunds, data handling). Own the full newsletter P&L, managing all related costs. Qualifications: 3–5 years of experience in digital publishing, editorial operations, audience development, or a related field. Proven experience launching and growing newsletters at scale. Experience with subscription models and sponsorship monetization. Editorial judgment and ability to collaborate across multiple brands. Understanding of legal and compliance requirements for email and paid content. Excellent organizational skills and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously. Preferred Skills Experience with revenue-driven content strategies (affiliate, sponsorship, programmatic concepts). Familiarity with A/B testing, audience segmentation, and newsletter funnel building. Passion for entertainment—movies, TV, pop culture, gaming or celebrity news.
