Job Description Under limited supervision, facilitates the end-to-end execution of financial transactions for a defined set of client units by providing information and support to customers. Guides customers through processes, executes primary tasks, interacts with internal/external organizations, and reconciles and provides in-depth analysis of accounts. Responsible for identifying inefficiencies and recommending potential solutions to clients during the financial transaction process. May lead or mentor lower level team members. Responsibilities • Reviews and responds to requests for financial process inquiries across various communication channels, ensuring timely and accurate resolution. • Initiates, supports, and processes complex financial transactions, including but not limited to, travel requisitions and reimbursements, purchase requisitions, internal transfers, and payments to individuals. Maintains documentation of transactions and confirms completeness, accuracy, and compliance with UTHSA and departmental policies and procedures. • Utilizes financial reporting tools to support month-end and year-end close processes and conducts analysis of funding related issues. • Maintains and assists in the development of dashboards in Business Analytics software that provides timely and accurate information and insight to customers on their accounts and financial situation. Develops and monitors key performance indicators as determined by the department and customers served. • Offers indirect leadership to a professional team of Financial Specialists, supporting workload distribution via a ticketing system to maintain transaction flow and meet customer expectations. Demonstrates leadership through clear communication, effective delegation, and team guidance to drive productivity and achieve operational goals. • Identifies opportunities for process improvements by analyzing root causes and developing effective solutions. • Serves as a strategic advisor role capacity process improvement and customer relations management. • Promotes financial policies, procedures, and programs to university community and communicate changes as they are made. Educates customers on the appropriate interpretation of policies and procedures. • Performs all other duties as assigned. Qualifications • Knowledge of institutional financial administration policies, procedures, and practices, as well as governmental and institutional regulations, guidelines, policies, and procedures. • Knowledge and application of full-cycle accounting principles, concepts, practices, and procedures. • Strong financial acumen with the ability to analyze and interpret financial data. • Customer-service focus that is responsive and empathetic • Relationship building and consultative skills. • Strong attention to detail, problem solving, critical-thinking, oral and written communication, time management, and project management skills. • Proficient in Microsoft office skills with advanced Excel skills; experience with PeopleSoft is preferred. Education • Bachelor's Degree degree is required. Experience • Five (5) years of financial transactions experience or related experience is required.
